I shouldn't think they are happy - it's a very quick appointment considering Stoke were not going to be in a rush. Has a familiar ring to it for me.

Luton fans won’t be happy with him for walking out halfway through what could be a great season for them, but it doesn’t take much to p**s them off anyway! Not as p**sed off as some of the fans were on here! To them, moving on to another club and having high ambition is illegal and punishable by death.

if i was a luton fan i would be very unhappy at the moment. second in the league 11 points out of a possible 15 unbeaten in the last five games. i hope it does not derail there season Didn’t Bury still get promoted at our expense despite Alan Knill walking out on them in March to join Sc***horpe? Walsall’s form didn’t seem to dip after Dean Smith left to join Brentford either and were just pipped to automatic promotion by Burton. If the dressing room harmony at Luton is good they should all stick together and should carry on doing ok as a new man coming in won’t need to change much. Not to mention Burton themselves actually did better after Rowett left and Hasselbaink took over. If only Askey could have come here last January, eh?

Seems like a very Hurstlike appointment, Mr Coates should have spoke to the Ipswich chairman and perhaps thrown their net a bit higher. A great move for Jones and it sets him up for a while financially win or lose, but you would feel a bit underwhelmed if you were a Stoke fan (big club and all that)given what is out there at the moment, bit like some on here recently!!! Good luck to though and he seems a decent sort. I'm told some Stoke fans were turning up their noses at the prospect of David Moyes. Deluded bunch. I hope those fans are miserable - for me, they joined Sunderland on the up-their-own-fundaments list when they laughed at the size of the attendance at the Meadow. They're earning their misery.

I reckon Mr Jones will get 12 months before being shown the Exit door. Hopefully he can do a Sunderland in that time.

"A new managerial appointment will be made as swiftly as possible but in the meantime Rory Delap, Kevin Russell and Andy Quy will take charge of first-team affairs." Well, they didn't have their jobs for long. Stoke appoint Jones 24 hours later. Doubt they even had time to interview him, let alone sort out the details of his contract. But then, contact may have been made a lot earlier on. For Evans and PH, read Coates and Jones.
