And now it's shunted around just to suit the BBC.... There was something special about tuning in the radio to hear the draw, live from Lancaster house....

It's the fixtures as well. Games on Fri, Sat and Sun and we've still got one left for tonight. That, the scr@pping of replays from 5th round onwards, and the playing of reserve teams by not only the Premier League sides but also those in the Championship has effectively destroyed what was once a great competition. Even the Final isn't played at its traditional time.

I just wish the playoff finals weren't anywhere near Wembley either. We have enough League Grounds that could quite adequately stage them.

Even the Final isn't played at its traditional time. Pretty much everything that was good about the FA Cup has been destroyed by the FA and allowing the TV companies to do what they like with what used to be the premier cup competition in the world. As added by someone else the semis are now played at Wembley, and heaven should Tottenham get to the Final they will even have a 'home' fixture in the Final. Just another nail in the coffin of the tournament.

Probably Gillingham, Wimbledon, Oldham, Newport or Barnet away. Lets not worry about who we might play in the 4th Rd, with our away record it would take a brave man to even dream that we will get there now.

I wouldn't be surprised if the true reason for our early kick off on Saturday was down to bookmakers
somwwhere in the world 12:30 is mid afternoon and punters need some English games to watch and lose money on
just like tobacco got the boot we need to act soon and get rid of betting advertising in sport as its taking over

Wolves in the next round may just make the replay very interesting. Local derby for both teams.

If we win at the Britannia, at least the club will save a fortune on travel costs! Dave Edwards back to Molineux in Blue & Amber?

Dave Edwards. 2 headed goals in two heroic 1-0 wins as we march on to the fifth.

Well that's some incentive. Doubt it'll put too many on the away following to Stoke, mind but the club will be well keen on that...

Town v Wolves would be nailed on for live TV coverage you would think, given all the current links.

Still got a lot to do before we get the chance for revenge for '79. Mind they were a couple of memorable matches for many reasons. Air conditioned coaches on the way home being one.
Re the earlier comments on when the draw used to be held, I seem to remember it was always 1105 after the news on radio 2. I recall this as as others have said, I too would "need" the toilet shortly before 11 along with many others. If was at 1230 we would have been on dinner hour so there was no need to sneak out of lessons.

My memories of '79 are of the train back to Shrewsbury being stoned from railway bridges as it made it's way out of Wolverhampton.
