I'm in Lisbon talking about grass seed with suppliers that week. Work comes first😉 Last time I was in Portugal, five years ago, albeit further south, I didn’t see any grass all the time I was there😖 Really??? Did you get out and about or were you cooped up in some package deal holiday hotel? Some of the finest patches of grass in the world are in Portugal. Heard of any of these? San Lorenzo, Penha Longa Atlântico, Monte Rei Golf Club, Oceânico Victoria, Vale do Lobo Royal, Oceânico Old Course, Oitavos Dunes, Quinta do Lago South.

On the Algarve, (I did say further south). All the hotels and Restaurants seemed to offer pork or seafood. We asked why no beef and were told that cattle need grass and we have none. Pigs will eat anything.

I thought the whole idea of going abroad on holiday was to sample other cultures? If beef is a requisite of your diet perhaps you should up the star rating on your choice of hotel. I lived in Mallorca for several years which has a similar climate to the Algarve. Beef was always available in the supermarket or in restaurants.

Don’t trust everything a Portuguese waiter tells you.... especially in the all inclusive tourist hotels that don’t want to offer expensive food options..some interesting facts here, I’ll be asking questions later core.ac.uk/download/pdf/62720932.pdf

I lived in Mallorca for several years which has a similar climate to the Algarve. Beef was always available in the supermarket or in restaurants. On the flip side, we visited relatives in the Dallas, Midland areas of Texas. There was grass, but not as green as we are used to, and you could eat anything you want, as long as it’s beef. Some of the steers in the Fort Worth stockyards have to be seen to be believed. Anyway, I can’t imagine ever booking a holiday just to admire the grass. One of the reasons I like cruises, is to get a flavour of differing cultures, wake up in a different city or country each day and head off to see what’s available. Everyone of us is different.
