Really tough for him. Let's hope he makes a full recovery and gets back playing soon.

Shrews web on twitter:
LENELL JOHN-LEWIS: Lenny has just seen the consultant to review the scan on his injury, he’s confirmed a quite significant ACL injury, Lenny is booked in for surgery mid next week. The early prognosis is a 12 month recovery period #salop

Presumably it's our responsibility to help him back to fitness, even though it looks unlikely that his contract will be renewed at the end of this season. And rightly so, as the injury was sustained whilst playing for us.
I just wonder whether the Club have some sort of insurance cover in place for this sort of thing.

Massive shame for somebody who must be a great guy, as he’s so popular. Still, surely we won’t see him in a Salop shirt again now - one of the most baffling Shrewsbury careers. Played the least by the man who actually signed him & more and more game time with each manager that took the job on since whilst rarely, if ever, looking like anywhere near League One quality.

Players we have lost to this sort of knee injury over the last few years have been more key players Ogogo Brown NKP Wesloski So we could say we as a club got lucky its just one of the fringe players not a starter week in week out However its a bugger for him, hes a hard worker who does lack quality, but you dont wish or want to see anyone get a serious injury like this. Hopefully we help him though this, and can get him to a stage where a club will take him on in the summer and he continue his career elsewhere. You have to think he will go now, makes us offering him a contract a bit less unlikely (but I said that last summer!) Good luck with the rehab and hopefully the STFc medical team can do just a good a job with him as the last few player we have had go though this... I can't remember where Ogogo's or Wesolowski's happened, but Brown's, NKP and now LJL's all happened around the same section of the pitch - by the line in front of block 16. Coincidence or something in it? Pretty sure Brown did his on the edge of the 18 yard box, in front of blocks 8 & 9, as he crossed the ball and his knee gave way underneath him?!

If I remember rightly , John-Lewis scored our first goal of the season last year in injury time v Northampton. As pointed out by many he didn’t mark his man properly at Wembley. But he cannot be held responsible , how many defenders lose their man on corners every game . Made an unfair scapegoat in my opinion . That first goal of the season set the ball rolling and lead to the best season I can remember since watching town in my lifetime. Also I was lucky enough to watch the majority of games last season home and away and I’m in opinion his 10-15 minute appearances won us a lot of points with his hold up play and footballing brain . Hopefully will make a full recovery and go onto another club and serve them well.

Part of the contract could be to help out with community work , etc and doing what his injury allows to coach kids , represent the club etc. Would work for both parties I would imagine .
