Superb signing, really rate this chap and a real statement of intent from the club. The future is looking up. Of course you would know about him as all Trains for Wales north of Shrewsbury, stop in Wrexham, but not quite long enough to get the wheels pinched.

Like I mean oh my god what the **** is going on. Sam Ricketts is only going out and signing players he believes will make Shrewsbury Town a better football club short and long term. He's only gone and signed a midfielder returning home after a career playing Premier league and International football. But jesus h christ. He might he 'injury prone'. This will not stand. i feel i have made reasonable points about his two signings ,from 2017 till he left he played less than half the league games not counting pre season or cup run. the injury prone is from the reading fans forum.whilst he seemed well like "failed to make an impact" getting rid of dead wood are just some of the comments " i am entitled to my opinion you dont agree with it that is fine with me. One man's trash is a another man's treasure. We've been crying out for some extra quality and a spark or connection to this team, and now we have it and you're critical because hes had some injuries recently.

How likely would it be for us to sign a player from a Championship club that wasn't surplus to their requirements? Of course some fans will think he's " dead wood"! Who do you expect us to be signing? He's dropping down a level.

I'm all for giving players a chance (and I will with this one) but it shouldn't come as a surprise when fans are a bit confused by this signing, for two reasons:
1) He is not wanted by a team in the league below and is currently plying his trade in non league. Last season proved we shouldn't write players off based on their previous club(s) but the signing is a little underwhelming 2) We have signed him and immediately sent him out on loan, I don't believe we have ever done that before? Although the cynic in me wouldn't be surprised if we signed him and realised he couldn't play for us so had to send him out on loan!!
He's clearly a player for the future and hopefully one that comes off, rather than gets added to the weird STFC signings list.

Or the manager has seen him day in, day out and sees some potential there. Getting in there now before other people do? Yeah, it’s underwhelming but save your moaning until you’ve seen him play. There were enough players last season who taught me to make my own judgement on them and who can prove people wrong under the right manager. Financially it’s a minimal output and could work out.

I didn't realise 'a little underwhelming' now constituted moaning!! I said I'd give him a chance and he's clearly one for the future so I'm hardly slating the player My comment is more I can understand fans questioning the nature of the signing, rather questioning the player. As I said let's hope it works out

18 month contract for nearly 6 months of which he will be on loan. Am I missing something here - it does not make any sense. You're missing something. which is pray tell

His contract has the option for a further year, so if he does well next season that would be invoked.

Makes sense this if the manager thinks this lad has the potential to get better and can contribute at some point in the future. What's not to like about forward thinking, thinking about tomorrow... :-)

He got injured straight away in the match at Orient. It didn't look too good.

Real shame if that hinders Wrexham’s progress this season, real shame.

Wrexham fans say he’s been playing well and they’ll struggle without him...
