Sunderland have finally signed Will Grigg at what must have been the 6th or 7th attempt, £1.5milion fee.

Well done to everyone at Shrewsbury Town. A very busy and successful day, professionally handled. Results to hopefully prove the deals are right, but so far I reckon it's enough to keep those who said they won't come to another game this season coming.

Yes, there are now grounds for some cautious optimism. If nothing else there are now more options and more competition but there are also a fair few unproven players or players who haven't played any recent football amongst the new faces. Fingers crossed.

I'm really pleased to see we've not only signed some pace, but also some potential.
Always love it when we give young players a chance.
Well done Roland, Brian, (I bet you didn't let them go down to the East Stand Gents for a s**t with no seats), and Sam. I see the photo of Campbell holding a town shirt is on the slant.
Sort it out Whitfield.

A bit surprised and disappointed that a Championship club hasn't come in and taken James Collins from Luton. He is bound to be on a high for Saturdays game and out to prove a point.
Yea, I expect him to p**s all over us......

I’d have liked one more right sided defender to push Bolton, but maybe Sears is more than capable. Other than that genuine options across the pitch, plus Whalley will be like a new signing.

I’ve possibly got my negative head on tonight but can’t really share the optimism about the transfer window signings
Yes there is some great potential in the young players we have signed, but we have seen before young lads come in from higher league clubs and really struggled in the more physical league one fixtures
Scott Golbourne and Edwards are of great quality but have barely played a handful of games in the last year, and Payne has hardly set Bristol on fire since he left, other signings appear a little panicky and of no great quality and made before others had been secured - much like Askey with some of his signings in the summer
Was kind of hoping for some recent league one experience particularly in defence, as that’s the big concern across the whole of the back 4/5
Hope I’m wrong but hard to see the signings contributing much in the remainder of the season and all a bit scatter gun in the approach to me

the offer is between 3 & 4m
no one in this league can compete with that

Sears will always be in the match day squad due to the home grown player rule, so will provide cover for Bolton.

You never know, it might be justified.

After the drama of Tuesday night I'm pleased with the signings.
Golbourne is proper left sided cover.
Williams has a lot of potential I guess he may have to hit the ground running, Might be a wake up call for Beckles/Sadler/Waterfall.
Payne I'm really pleased that he's back if only on loan.
Campbell again seems to have a lot of potential.
Mitchell - a little strange to see another keeper come in.
Only Angol gone, if Jones is still here he should be given a go at some point. I'd say ahead of Smith and Holloway.
A little strange that it was criticised that by Ricketts that it was a big squad but 9 have left and 9 have come in. At least these are his signings and should all be given a decent go.
Bring on Luton.

Feeling more positive now with the signings except Payne. Hopefully these will help us move on enough to avoid relegation. If we can do that Rickets can then concentrate on building his own squad next season and move us up the table COYB

Does seem some people are getting a bit carried away, with talk of playoffs ect. If you actually break it down we’ve got
Charles cook, Edwards, Williams, golbourne, have played zero games this season, (and even longer!)
Smith, and Campbell as strikers have scored 5 goals between them in their careers.
Payne has scored 2 in 9 months
Mitchell has made 15 appearances in 6 years and vincelot 10 appearances for Crawley.
The lad at Wrexham can’t play for us.
On paper, not too much to get excited about.

By tomorrow night if we lose to Luton, normal service will be resumed, with this site in meltdown again.

In an ideal world (if Ricketts won the lottery!) Out Kennedy, loft, Coleman, colkett, gnouah, angol, ljl, Hendrie, Jules, Jones, Morris and maybe Beckles Loan Mcatee, Barnett, Shelis, Gregory, Hughes, rowlands In Left back, centre back, midfielder, winger x2, striker x2, keeper, right back as he doesn’t seem to rate emanual Very close to a perfect prediction

I usually wait until the end of the season before predicting where we'll finish. Works for me and I avoid making a complete idiot of myself. However, I still manage to find other ways of achieving that!!

It doesn't finish, players from EFL clubs can still be loaned out to non-league clubs.

Allegedly Sunderland put £3m up front for grigg in desperation to get someone in.
All well and good if they go up but Wigan have absolutely seen them off. He's barely scored 15 goals at championship level in his career. Rancid record at this level mind.
Seems their deadline tactic was too bid for and unsettle every l1 striker.
Be absolutely hilarious if these self absorbed ****ers lose at Wembley.

We were the only team in league 1 that did enough transfer business to need 3 sections in that article.
