To summarise the current position this window. Seven have left. Jules, Kennedy, Hendrie, Coleman, Colkett, Morris and Gnahoua. Three have joined. Edwards, Walker and Charles-Cook, but only two of these are available this season. askey wanted two players for each position and we had a few extra at midfield , is there anyone else people think we should let go ? you would hope we now have cleared enough space and funds to bring in the players we really need ,to strengthen the defence and attack. but that all depends on how much money does rickets have ? are there the players we need available ? there are still places for some loan players. i would be concerned if we dont strengthen the squad

I see Accrington have taken back their record sale centre half back on loan from Ipswich. Doubt we'll see a return of Toto.

At the same time can we get more out of Eisa and Angol?

At the same time can we get more out of Eisa and Angol? I think it's worth trying to move Angol on. Eisa is one i'd certainly offer an 18 month to now on slightly improved terms, then loan him out to a League Two side.
We should use the remaining January budget on a decent striker, i feel that's really all we "need" as such. The midfield in my opinion is quality, and the defence and keeper are adequate for the bottom half of League One. A striker to play up top in a 3-5-2 with Fejiri could really make a difference to where we finish.

Reading connection with Dave Edwards? Another avenue to finding players?

Hopefully he does a bit better than the last striker we loaned from Reading.

My guess is that SR will want to play Saturday in a 3-5-2 as he stumbled on a potentially winning formula, and then look for more signings to fit that system depending on its success.

not exactly a ringing endorsement but only time will tell and he deserves a chance , look at how Bradshaw flourished at Walsall .

Smith seems to be the 2 goals a season striker we've been crying out for.

Well, I'm prepared to give him 5 minutes even if nobody else seems keen, although I'd be starting with Okenabirhie and Angol plus Emmanuel (or Bolton) and Haynes as wing backs.

I think we've cocked that up - he should have played more.

Shame about Emmanuel. Dont think we saw the best of him. But Bolton has been pretty consistent at RB, so can see why he’s gone back. Ricketts certainly isn’t messing around is he. Just concerned we’re going to be left short in various positions.

Hopefully he does a bit better than the last striker we loaned from Reading. Hopefully he does as well as the last young striker we had on loan following an unsuccessful stint at Oxford.

Just concerned we’re going to be left short in various positions. Emmanuel has lots of potential but we have our own Ryan Sears on the bench. I'd prefer a fairly small squad and spend the money saved on a goal scorer to compliment Okenabirhie. Not happened yet though!!

Funny how all SR talks about this striker is how he closes down and runs for lost causes.... nothing at all about actually scoring or having an eye for goal....striker eh??

I don't know how teams score these days. Where are the strikers? Maybe Smith is a " defensive striker", like LJL. Everyone seems to be searching for a striker and struggling to find them. Your other team, Chelsea, are hanging on to Morata until they get a replacement in, Spurs are in a state of near-crisis because Kane's injured - all these huge squads and hardly any strikers!

Agreed let’s hope he gets his Higuaín and it gives us the edge up front we need as Morata is quite simply soft and not good enough, Giroud is hot and cold oh well... you would think we could get a top striker from league 2 or even top of conference... the boy from flyde, Norwood at tranmere guys who know where the net is not chasing everything down and getting 2 goals a season but a fox in the box who gets the goals...other teams are buying and loaning well..so far it’s a must try harder from me in this window for SR

Surely Ricketts doesn't need to thin his squad any more than this, eight out is a lot in one window?
