Who will buy them knowing they can't play at that level?

Best bit of business Hurst did for us, getting them in and getting them out while they looked like Championship ready players

If I remember correctly their initial offer of a combined £1.4million was rejected by Town, as it fell below our valuation, and that figure is about right in terms of the eventual deal.

Does anyone know if player transfers are subject to VAT like any other business transaction?.

Hmmm.

Very satisfying to read about the effects of losing your better players to other clubs and the timing of such things. Glad it has caused PH some of his problems, really glad. Pity you never felt any problem about you doing it to your former club. Karma. Now feck off.

Does anyone know if player transfers are subject to VAT like any other business transaction?. Not sure but you'd think some of that 2 million would of gone to Hartlepool United and Chesterfield. I wouldn't be shocked if they had some sell on fee in their contracts when they signed for us.

Does anyone know if player transfers are subject to VAT like any other business transaction?. Not all business transactions are subject to VAT, it depends on their nature (in VAT terms). Transfers of footballers are treated as a "supply of staff" and therefore a taxable supply of services though, so VAT would have to be added to any fee, although Ipswich would presumably have been able to reclaim this as input tax when they submitted their VAT return. When a player is transferred abroad, the supply is "outside the scope" of VAT and so the club doesn't charge VAT. If they buying club is in the EU, it has to pay VAT in its own country but can still reclaim it as input tax. I expect transfer fees are disclosed (if at all) net of VAT because the VAT effect will almost certainly be neutral for both clubs.

Salty cry baby. Or have we moved on?? I think many of us want to play Ipswich next season. I certainly do, it is one of only ten of the current ninety two that I have yet to visit. Reading is another and they are down there in the mix. My worry is doing 91 and then do I have to bite the bullet and be seen at the Theatre of Prawn sarnies?

the bottom seven teams are all struggling if Ipswich could string three wins together they would be out of the bottom four, you would assume lampard cant wait for the January transfer window.

Looks like an 'Ipswich' type of thread is being set up on Red Passion to keep tabs on how Ricketts is getting on.

Eight points adrift of safety now, but...
"Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert proclaimed ‘we are so, so close to being a top side’ following this afternoon’s spirited 2-0 defeat at promotion hopefuls Stoke City".

"Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert proclaimed ‘we are so, so close to being a top side’ following this afternoon’s spirited 2-0 defeat at promotion hopefuls Stoke City". They will be a top side . Top side in league 1 next season. Lambert is fairing no better than PH and he is supposed to be an experienced top level manager.

How long before Lambert, a proven failure in the past, gets the push.
I am sure we can rely on Danny Coyne and Eric Ramsey not to answer any texts from Ipswich.

The appointment of Lambert was a waving of the white flag. Just like it was for Stoke last season.

With Lambert failing just the same as PH maybe its the club that is the problem not the managers. PH may still be able to prove himself in the championship with a decent club. Having said that in Lamberts defence he did inherit a lot of players that PH took to Ipswich like Nolan and Toto who haven't come up to scratch.
