Ok, so we're not doing too well at the moment, but spare a thought for my home town team that play in the spar mid wales league division 1.
Just days before the start of the new season our 2 leading scorers from last season left to join Caersws.
We started the new season with 3 narrow defeats before winning the next 2, looked like we had turned a corner...but sadly August was the highlight, it has been downhill ever since...
L 0-4 L 1-5 L 2-8 L 0-7 L 1-9 L 0-8
We were also dumped out of the league cup and FAW trophy in the first round by a division 2 team and lost 8-0 in the Welsh Cup qualifiers.
Last month the reserve team folded after only 4 league games into the new season.
It's going to be a long old season....

Sack the manager! Jeez, even you could do better than that, maybe.

I could think of a manager that would suit that level...... And a couple of forwards.......Oh. and a centre half...

I don't get to watch them very often unless I'm back home visiting family. One club, Knighton Town have already pulled out of the league this season. It didn't help that our two best players last season were poached days before the season kicked off.

My rugby league team, Widnes Vikings, won 3 of their first 7 games, then lost 20 in a row! We did manage one more win, followed by 2 defeats to ensure relegation from Super League. It cost 2 coaches their jobs, 15 players have left (so far - in most cases that's no bad thing), we have only 2 new signings and our owner emigrated to Australia. Next year is the 30th anniversary of our being World Club Champions. Not much to moan about at the Meadow …..

In the late 80's we (Bishops Castle Town FC) went 44 games without a win, then played the Old Bush from Shrewsbury in the Shropshire Junior Cup and won 6-1....with 6 different goal scorers !!
Didn't we have some fun on our travels, happy days, playing in the Montgomeryshire Amateur League

I don't post there and have to admit I haven't attended a game for two years now. But my grandad introduced me to it and it's been a family thing ever since, so I'm hoping to go again next year in the Championship - new team, new coach, new start. At least Stephen Vaughan is long gone - first owner to fail the FA's fit and proper test (takes some doing) and who dragged the club into a VAT fraud. As bad as last season was, it could have been worse!

And of course every now and then you got a "result", like knocking the then and now very strong Llanfair Utd out of the CWFA Cup 3-2 , beating a previously nearly season long unbeaten Llanrhaeader side at home 2-1 But like I say we had some cracking days out and then of course the licencing hours were slightly different, so plenty of going through kitchens etc and drinking with lights on and curtains close

As bad as last season was, it could have been worse! Not long after I had moved to Oldham, I went with a family friend to an evening fixture at Watersheddings to watch the Roughyeds play. There was a decent crowd in that evening. Sadly however Watersheddings was pretty dilapidated by this point and it wasn't long after when the club had no choice but to sell up and enter into a ground share with Oldham Athletic. To think that Oldham were a founder member of the Super League. They probably have even less chance of ever playing in Super League again than we have of being in the premiership. It's been tough for them over the last 20 or so years. Since leaving Watersheddings they've not had a proper home; I think they've played at 8 different home grounds in the last 15 years or so, how they have kept going is beyond me. The good news is that they now have a ground that they can call their own. I really do wish them well.

The good news is that they now have a ground that they can call their own. I really do wish them well. It's hard for small town clubs in both sports. There's a real concern amongst Widnes fans that we might never see the top level again. I think that depends on whether the recent expansion is not only sustained but enhanced. London have just taken our Super League place but will their crowds still be much smaller than ours next year? Probably. Will Toronto reach Super League next time, or Toulouse? Will any of the potential new clubs, like New York, emerge soon? Maybe, maybe not. Unlike many league followers, I'm happy to see the expansion succeed if clubs grow fairly and not at the cost of others. But I still want to see clubs like ours - and Oldham, Swinton, Halifax and the rest - able to compete on an equal footing and have realistic hopes of playing at the highest level - a proper competition in other words. I think that possibility has gone from football.

We had some great lock ins too Following Tywyn FC (as was) was a great adventure throughout my youth up until my early 20s. For a number of seasons we went up against the big boys of the time in the mid wales league, Aberystwyth Town, Welshpool, Newtown and Caersws. We too also had some great cup runs, reaching the quarter finals of the Welsh Cup and the semi final of the Welsh FA trophy. In those days the attraction of the Welsh Cup was that if you progressed far enough you could well draw a football league club. We got knocked out by Hereford United one season but at least we made some money by switching the tie to Edgar Street. Sadly, it couldn't last forever. We were punching above our weight and we just couldn't afford to keep going. I had moved away by this point but it was still sad to see the demise of the club as was.

Oh God, you're not going to reminisce about the time you scored the most important goal, (the fourth wasn't it), when you beat three players with a shimmy down the wing before spotting the keeper slightly off his line, so you curled Juan over his head and it went in off the far post.
PS. You don't know what a late drink was until you got a "late drink" at the Railway Inn at Borth. We were staying on the Bryn Owen caravan park, and our family had all disappeared back to the site, but my Bro in Law, Ian, convinced me that he had a feeling in his water that his Euro millions ticket was going to come up trumps because he'd had a dream the night before that he'd Juan about 10 million quid, and there would be a million notes in it for me.
I must admit, that is the fust time I'd kissed him, but I was feeling very emotional, especially as we'd sunk about 10 pints of Reverent James.
Any road up, (stop me if you've heard this), Juan of the bar staff came over and said, "Alright, boys, if you've got to go, fair enough, or else you can stay for a "latey" with us. As I'd just got a million quid in my arse pocket, I said we'd stay. I bought a few drinks, then at about 2 in the morning, we thought we'd better stagger back to the caravan. The barman said to stand back while he checked the street. Needless to say, the cold wind was howling a gale, the rain was lashing down, (it was July after all), and we staggered back to the caravan site.
Now I've got to admit this. I love the dragon to pieces, but she can be a very awkward woman. As much as I tried to curry favour by smiling at her that night, for some reason, she didn't seem pleased to see me. I remember thinking, "just wait until she sees the million quid in my arse pocket in the morning, she'll change her tune". Unfortunately, during the night, we were burgled, and the thieves must have pinched it.
Did I ever tell you about the time we locked in at The Friendship Inn at Borth....perhaps another time....

Well you could be a Fort William supporter.
Currently bottom of Highland league, having lost 15 of their 16 opening games of the season.
Not just losing but getting hammered every week.
Goal difference currently stands at -105
Yes that’s right minus 105.........

Ouch. you would have to be a very stoic fan to go to all there games . and talk about being kicked when you are down.... not only are they bottom of the league but they are on minus 7 points as well for playing an ineligible player or two. Now that is cruel.

Fort William have that bad for a few seasons now, this season isn't a one off.
Due to their location and finances they can't attract players. They basically play local kids.
