A Stoke supporting friend says they are raving about Woods and the difference he has made to them. Well done to him long may his career continue to thrive.

Fantastic tonight- home debut live on Sky- man of the match. 10 minutes to go; 94 passes, 92 completed, 96% success rate or something. Looked very comfortable amongst two ex Prem teams. They mentioned the £7m deal lined up for Jan and that Salop stand to get £1m+. On tonight’s form he’ll be in the Prem with or without Stoke by next season. If the PL didn't see itself as "the world league" and wasn't full of foreign players imported from exotically named clubs that most people have never heard of, then Ryan would be playing in that division now and possibly be winning international caps. It appears that every time he plays in a televised match he is named as MOM, as he was again last night. He is a perfect example of the many players that are overlooked by PL clubs because they are playing in the FL and when they finally get picked up are hailed as "a great new discovery" and catapulted towards international glory. EG Jamie Vardy played non-league and lower league for years before Leicester took a chance on him and the rest is a fairy story

It was mentioned on Sky at last night's match that "Shrewsbury are due a windfall of over £1million from the deal".

What I will say for Woodsy is that he looks better every time he plays alongside better players. I definitely think he's a premiership player and on that basis certainly wouldn't rule him out of potentially earning himself an England cap - he's exactly the type of player the national team is crying out for!

Could have worked out differently if he’d waited for the end of the transfer window with Smith moving to Villa and Villa apparently being interested previously. Stoke fans not overly impressed currently.

I don’t know about Stoke fans generally but the Stoke season ticket holder I work with reckons Woods is a Premier League player and the rest are, well, not so good .....

Sorry, was a purely hypothetical point that wasn’t well made. Just meant that if he’d not have moved so late in the window there’s a good chance Smith would have wanted him at Villa rather than playing in a struggling Stoke team where things seem to have soured. I don’t know what the fans make of him, was just going off what Liam Lawrence said in this. www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-liam-lawrence-rowett-2386120Sure he’ll show how good he is today if he makes the team and it’ll work out for him.
