It appears that Stoke are going for a loan deal becoming a transfer in January.

That is the jumpiest, least watchable newspaper site I've ever seen. I gave up trying when it asked me which team I supported!

Just been on Brentfords Forum where the scenario has been put that to get around the loan / transfer rules the contract will be arranged so that Stoke may pay £6.5 for his loan with an option to sign on a "free transfer" in January ! In that , admittedly unlikely, scenario where does that leave the matter of sell on clauses ? 20% of £0 = £0 !!!

You’ve been in the accountancy business long enough Colin to know about substance over form £1.3m a decent bit of cashola.

i know we will get the money in instalments and i have lost track of how much we have made from all the players sold but between them and this we must be over 2 million? so we still would have £1.4 million i know we are a very prudent club with finances and looking at the mess QPR is in i am glad we have and yes we have allegedly broke our transfer record for one player but even if askey does not get a player now we are fortunate to be in a position to have funds to get someone in January.

Can't see Brentford getting away with that one though. www.skysports.com/football/news/11701/11480943/stoke-agree-loan-with-7m-option-for-brentfords-ryan-woods

Indeed. Good luck. You deserve to be successful wherever you go. Stoke have got themselves a gem.
Some help please - I have been asked by a Stoke supporter to give a view on Ryan and I’m not into the finer points - suggestions please.

So that would mean any funds heading our way would be coming in January then if the sale does go through? Good luck to him indeed. He's done us a big favour in continuing his development and getting a move to Stoke which hopefully brings a nice bit of money our way.

Interesting picture choice in the Telgraph, he's pictured playing against Shrewsbury Town at Shrewsbury.

Nice to hear that Ryan continues to do well.
'Woods - making his first start since joining Stoke from Brentford - produced a sublime and composed performance in central midfield, dictating the tempo of the game'. (Match Report).

Hard choice facing him in January if Brentford and Stoke are still in the same league positions as now.

Good for his wage packet. But Brentford are a good footballing team on the way up. Stoke are a toxic group of underachievers trending down.

Substance over form does not work with contracts - could well be a legal case in this one if that is true.

Plus I think it's a done deal anyway I don’t know how Ryan’s mind works, but I doubt whether an ambitious player would take playing in League 1 over playing in the Premiership however good the money is. My guess is that he’d be telling his agent to look for a new deal.

Fantastic tonight- home debut live on Sky- man of the match. 10 minutes to go; 94 passes, 92 completed, 96% success rate or something.
Looked very comfortable amongst two ex Prem teams.
They mentioned the £7m deal lined up for Jan and that Salop stand to get £1m+.
On tonight’s form he’ll be in the Prem with or without Stoke by next season.
