On our way to the ground Saturday We had to bucket shakers collecting money for the safe standing I walked up and asked if the collection was for the safe standing and refused to contribute The collectors asked why I said I think the club should pay The collector seemed to get quite upset by this He asked if I would like to discuss my views It was raining and I don't need to justify what I contribute to Don't pressure people to believe in what you do I always give to local causes But to me this isn't important

If you don't want to contribute, then don't, that's your decision and no one can make you do otherwise.
But what I will say is, why did you approach said people with buckets if, as it seems, you already knew it was for safe standing? From your post it suggest you were seeking the confrontation.
Also not sure why it needed a thread just to tell us that!

How's this going?
Because people I talk aren't really aware of the campaign, or largely indifferent.

Pointless OP.
If the post is meant to be a wind up then it is in poor taste.
Town fans gave up their time on Saturday to go out collecting, well done to them.

along the same lines can i just announce that i didnt buy the sun today
seriously though, i too dont agree in the fans paying for it but there are some decent things to be won or gained from donations so i have full praise for those involved, why you felt the need to challenge them was really unnecessary
the other reason i dont want to contribute is because i wont ever use it

"A disgraceful original post"

Did hear of one or two similar conversations from people at the ground. While the campaign is well known on here maybe less so amongst the wider fan base so people might have questioned what the collection was for.
I don't think the collectors had ID or details of the campaign on the buckets (please correct me if I'm wrong) either which maybe made people ask questions
Maybe something to think about for future collections and get advice on correct procedure

Is the original post a poem? I've read it five times, but can't decide either way?

makes you wonder sometimes why we bother!!. All the guys and girls gave up their own free time to help, all had supporting safe standing flyers on the buckets so people knew what the collection was for and I know for a fact none of those involved would have gone out and been abusive towards our own fans.....they themselves are all fans!!! As for advertising the project more I'm not sure what else we can do, we have spent the last three months on tv , radio, newspaper, programme, social media etc...... but any further ideas please on me and I'll pass it on.

I can see where the OP was coming from. I went to the West Stand, donated a tenner and the bloke didn't even offer me a kissy.
At my age, you're glad of a bit of lip service.

Worth noting that the opening poster originally registered on this fine forum with the username 'sovclub000stfc'.

For once I beleive the club/chairman could do better and have funded the project both for Club/Fan relations and commercial benefit.
However once it has been established it will be fan funded I have nothing but praise for those who have invested there time in making it happen......you want something and feel passionately enough about it you make it happen, so well done to all involved.
Toilet revolters take note.
Ps...keep Jamo away from the buckets

Are we suggesting this is someone from the club trying to stir trouble for a fan led project, they claim to support?

Have wondered with a couple of friends why the rail seat manufacturers don't just pay the lions share of the ÂŁ75k, surely a no-brainer as a successful trial will almost certainly result in a large amount of business for them up and down the country in the next few years?

And interesting. Even more so when you read his other 18 posts. For someone who was so effusive in his praise for Roland's actions at Rochdale, he is highly critical of RW and the running of the Club in most of these. Of particular interest are the couple of posts he made on August 5th 2017. Can't see RW giving him another lift after reading those comments.

You must bother because I know several who donated on the day who might not have otherwise. I don't do online sponsorship but was more than happy to put cash in a bucket and did so. I'll probably put some more in on another occasion. The lovely young man has put me in for a draw - if I win can I have a toilet seat please!!!!!!!?

Heard a lot of people moaning and mocking this inside the ground on Saturday. It is a good opportunity for our club and to get some better atmosphere. I do think it is a shame that the FA can't fund it for us mind..

Don't let a few moaning bores deter you. They obviously have nothing better to do.
Great effort so far by those involved.
Any idea how much was raised on Saturday?

The run of the mill supporters have been fantastic. Local businesses haven't. I'm really disappointed in them.
