He really sounds like he is moving on , thanking everyone at the club , sitting down with RW to see whats the future for Shrewsbury , saying hopes shrewsbury has learnt their lesson this season league 1 club needs league 1 players..
Think if the chairmen doesn't back MM with funds he will go he knows its a tough job to do it by selling the best players.

Sounded to me like a thank you and goodbye to me too. If that's so all the best Mellon in the future, did a solid job while he was here.

Heard the interview but would still be surprised if MM wasn't here next season Time will tell

From Mellon's point of view he's done the job of keeping us up and will now want a clear direction from the Chairman and funds to take the next step
Sadly I fear the clubs not yet at the position to take the next step forward so it could be another difficult closed season
Hope I'm wrong but wouldn't surprise me if there are changes on and off the field in the summer

Sincerely hope he stays and gets the backing to buy/sign seasoned league one players..he sounded exhausted ...mind you we are all exhausted after that game and a massive thank you to Crewe too!

Sounded like he was off if not given funds. My first thought was here come the excuses. Won't be upset if he's off

Sounded like an ultimatum to me! I agree with him to be and he's putting the ball in the chairmans court. However a little thing called the wage cap is the problem!

To add, if he goes... my biggest concern is who'd come in. No one unemployed I know of appeals. Unless we poach

Sounds to me like he's upping the ante with the Chairman, back me or else. Mind games

Not really, surely the FA Cup prize money, 4x TV revenue plus 4 players sold has got to increase our turnover this season significantly?

His success at Fleetwood was based on out spending everyone else. Not a road I think this club can go down.
If he wasn't happy with the quality this season's signings you have to wonder why some were given lengthy contracts.

Not really, surely the FA Cup prize money, 4x TV revenue plus 4 players sold has got to increase our turnover this season significantly? It's a tricky one for the summer as while you would think we'd be ok with the wage cap this summer, we can't sign too many players on 2 year lucrative contracts, as in year two we might not have the tv money and transfer fees we have this year The key problem remains the off field income we generate week in week out just isn't at the level it needs to be for a good go at League One The cash this season has brought in is great but probably pays the losses off of the previous season and gives us a bit of wriggle room over the wage cap. The underlying turnover is the problem

Particularly if players are signed for more than one year?

I posted on here many months ago that I was struck by how subdued I felt MM was in one of his weekly interviews and how it concerned me.............some may recall...........
Obvious to me that he's man enough to say "My way Roland or yours"......and many of us know that's nothing new apart from MM is making it known..........
I hope he gets his way cos anyone with half a footballing brain knows we'll always be a yoo yoo club if he does'nt.........
Good Luck Mickey in my book 100% behind ya fella.................

If he's playing mind games, then he should remember there on 92 jobs as a manager of a league football team. Hope the chairman sees sense now and waves Mellon goodbye.

Any good reporter would of sensed what Mellon was saying and should of asked 'do you want to stay as manager or are you considering your future?
But no james bond even afterwards said he hadn't picked up in that vibe or what Mellon's comments allure too.

Basically he's saying he's not signing up for another season where the best that can be hoped for is scrapping to keep ourselves on the right side of the relegation line.
He's definitely put the ball in the chairman's court but I doubt he'll get the assurances he's obviously looking for.
I can see him walking away, sadly.

By his second or third question he should've picked up on it and asked. But he seemed completely oblivious to it all.

I think Mellon has been a great manager, despite our struggle this season and would be sad to see him go!

It was obvious to anyone listening Mellon was essentially saying he was considering his future and wouldn't be signing up for a re-run of the last nine months, thank you very much. Yet Bond seemed genuinely taken aback when the suggestion was put to him. Absolutely bizarre.

If Mellon stays would definitely like to see him given a bit more support with additions to the coaching staff
It's amazing the amount of work Mellon does in the community, which is a great credit to him. But maybe easing off on a bit of that might be an idea too. The guy is younger than me but has looked totally shattered in recent weeks. Hope he has a good holiday booked

Yes sounds like the meeting with the Chairman will decide the future for MM...I for one hopes he gets the assurances and support he needs and stays, it seems crazy to keep changing managers as soon as we have a tricky season, he succeeded in getting us promoted and keeping us in Div one and has given us some great cup runs!I think that is good enough to back him with sufficient finances to get the seasoned league one players he seeks as per his interview today!

So did RW or MM decide to bring in Wellens, Wallace and Vassell et al? Too many poor choices I'm afraid. Did he have the budget he wanted or not?
Clearly not much of those playing or on the bench are worthy of retention. Let's get some youth and pace in defence and midfield and at least one goal scorer.
Far too prickly when interviewed. He did get us out of League 2 but how many players with League One pedigree do Burton have, just better managed, weren't dismantled in the close season and all given a chance. Something for Mr Mellon to think about when he reviews his own position and performance as he should.
Not worried if he goes!

There was a lot of references in the interview to Shrewsbury rather than us or we. James Bond should have picked up on that and asked the question. Will you be at the club after next weeks last game. The post match interviews all season have been on the safe side as if Radio Shropshire are frightened of MM. There are a lot of clubs up north nearer to his Blackpool home who I think he would do a good job for. Being a Manager is a stressful enough job without having to live apart from the family so its goodbye from him and goodbye from me with thanks for getting us to where we are. Sadly I don't think MM is a Div 1 Manager but Blackpool could do a lot worse if they decide on a change of Manager for Div 2

It sounded like he was admitting he knew Goldson and Woods would be off in the summer, so why play Goldson in every per season game and leave us totally unprepared for his departure?
I really don't know what to make of Mellons words. He clearly thinks he hasn't had the backing required, but with wage caps being hit early on I'd suggest he had the backing but it had been spent in the wrong places as a consequence of the 20% promotion pay-rise (wasn't that his buddy MW's doing?).
League One ready players, fine, yes... So why give Wellens that contract then?!
I don't rate Mellon as highly as most, I see a manager who has done well with pots of money and not so well with anything less.
If he goes (and I hope he does) I just hope Jacko is off too....
Clean sweep, new era...

Prior to the game today he was asking a fan who his player of the year was, his second question was; what flavour pie are you eating. Can't be doing with the bloke.
