Only in the good old USA can such a loose cannon become a leader in a world super-power nation. It is looking more likely he is going to be the next president.I see trouble ahead for us as we are a puppet when America pull our strings.

Long way to go before he even gets the Republican nomination, let alone wins the election.
Not yet time to break off diplomatic relations.

Just imagine this . Trump as President and that mad b***h Palin somewhere in office deciding that it would be a very good idea to nuke Isis or some other bunch of nutters . Trump to Corbyn " push the button Jezza , we're going to blast the ******* to kingdom come using our nukes kept in your good hands , do it ". Corbyn to the Madman ," No , my position is clear , I will not push the button you mad t**t " or something similar .
Sounds good to me . If Cameron and Osbourne can bend over backwards to help Google I'm sure they would assume the position when called upon by the fool Trump .
Of course , others may disagree but I would rather we had Corbyn as PM should Trump prevail .
Christ , Cameron even wets himself when Murdoch and the sweet Rebecca come calling . p. s. Forget Rebecca , she's probably too busy destroying e mails , it's a long job!

He's played a blinder that's for sure. Reading the news this morning and they're all saying he were the winner of last nights Republican debate and he weren't even there. That whole episode sums it up nicely mind, the more he and his supporters are mocked and criticized the stronger he and they appear to become. Never really was the best tactic that. Seems to have a very good team around him. The best that money can buy, I'm sure.

Seems to have a very good team around him. The best that money can buy, I'm sure. Not mocking and criticising Trump would require his politics to be taken seriously and that's not possible for anyone capable of more than a moment's thought. Trump is either vile or an imbecile and you can't meet such people on their own territory. That would be like having an election debate with Hitler or Stalin - they'd just say what they liked with no regard to rational debate. What does need to be taken seriously is the fact that Trump has a solid base support. The crucial question is whether that minority can get the traction it needs to grow. That's the precipice over which the Republicans hang - if they continue down the populist, Tea Party route, are they making themselves unelectable? I still think they'll turn to Cruz or Rubio or one of the more electables, but who knows? If Trump gets the ticket, there'll be a massive movement against him. He's insulted women, muslims, veterans, Mexicans - you can only get so much support by alienating others before you find yourself painted into a corner. Then we'd see whether the radical right can win an election. But you'd have to be pretty naive to believe President Trump would stick to that anti-establishment, outsider line. He's a phoney (and I'm not just referring to his hair), amongst his many other failings.

You can say what you like about Donald's hair, but at least it's machine washable.

If what Trump spouts is considered political discourse in the the USA then the world is already fliped.
Dog whistling of the highest order.

I think this is the line many are taking in the States and he's lapping it up, using it to his own advantage. Seems to be doing well from it too. My experience in life is that you don't tend to persuade folk otherwise by mocking and dismissing them. Tends to make a fair few as determined as ever. Maybe the best way to tackle him would be to start taking him serious. Perhaps they might do soon. Could be too late by then though...

Next you'll be telling us to take the Raving Loony Monster Party seriously.
Mind you taking Trump seriously will enable journos and other commentators to call him out on his racism.

She started off in Alaska as Governer with an approval rating of 70%+. By the time she left early, it was down to 20%+

I don't disagree, but normally you ignore people and they go away. Unfortunately that isn't going to happen so the political discourse becomes about dog whistling racists, homophobes, Islamaphobes and any other 'ists' and 'phobes'. I served with a lot of Americans and still count many among my friends. They deserve better than this.

Don't think Trump is racist any more than Nick Griifin, Tommy Robinson and Nigel Farage are. It's all part of a same game of appealing to percentage of the population that all the nations problems are down to someone else.
Statements always have some truth in them - some Muslims are terrorists and some Mexicans are Murders, but are drawn with such a broad brush as to be meaningless
They just play a character that gets them votes, and more importantly money, which is really what they want.
Not just a technique of the right either - many left leaning groups use the same trick. It's very effective dog whistle politics but not particularly constructive politics

Could you kindly provide some details as to which of his comments/viewpoints are racist? How about his tweet in 2013 that the "overwhelming amount of violent crime in our major cities is committed by blacks and [H]ispanics". Whilst this may be true, it is such an over-simplification of things (for example the vast majority of speeding crime in the UK is committed by white people, should we simply ban them all from driving?). Most serious analysts conclude that socio-economic factors are a far more important factor in crime statistics in the USA than race. In my opinion in conflating crime figures with race Trump has only one purpose in mind - to stir up racial hatred. He is a bully who picks on those whom he perceives to be weak and in a minority - e.g. blacks, Mexicans, women reporters, small land owners in Scotland, environmentalists.
