Actually I think Colchester are the cheekiest having so many different prices and time limits. They must really think they are something special!!! But you being a regular Sheila, I'm sure you, like me, will take advantage of the early bird scheme and make a decent saving and watch football at a reasonable price. Logistically it must be a bit of a nightmare to run, especially keeping up with the sale of tickets for visiting teams at each cut-off point. Sounds like Colchester might be just the place in which to lend the non-smiling lady to deal with applications from our visiting fans then!

I know some are interested in this so I will keep people updated with the progress.
I've had nothing back from Fleetwood further to my last e-mail, but on Monday I had an e-mail from the Football League asking if I had heard from Fleetwood and saying to let them know if I hadn't or was unsatisfied with the response received (all a little late considering the game was Sunday).
I will post a separate reply with my e-mail back to the Football League below. Suffice to say I am up for the fight once again and will take it all the way to the Ombudsman if needs be!!

e-mail to the FL:
Hi Andrew
I finally had a response from Fleetwood after I sent two follow up e-mails. The reply was as follows:
Chris, Thank you for your email which has been forwarded on to myself. We are currently looking in to your observations, and that made by others, in relation to our away fan pricing model for juniors. Once we have reviewed this area in appropriate detail we will be in a position to respond more fully. Yours sincerely, Steve Curwood Chief Executive
I followed up with a further e-mail below to which I did not got a response and, as the game was on Sunday, it is now too late for myself and son anyway:
Thank you for your response Steve.
I take it this will be a longer term review rather than short term meaning that it will be of no help for this season as regards our attending Sunday’s league game.
I did in my original e-mail query the availability of the Under 16’s membership scheme to traveling supporters in light of being fair to all fans and not just home supporters to be in keeping with the Football League’s request for fairness to home and away fans in the spirit of the game? I would still like a response on this please.
We did attend the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash earlier in the season, when your pricing arrangements were affordable and to be congratulated. I hope your club will see fit to act in a fair manner to all supporters in the future.
Kind Regards
Chris Wynne
I would therefore conclude that I did not get a satisfactory response from Fleetwood as they did not at any stage respond to my question on the availability of the free Under 16’s membership to away fans and I would therefore like the Football League to follow this up. Can you please confirm that you will do this?
Also, if you refer back to my original e-mail Andrew you will note I did ask a question of yourselves at the Football League. I have highlighted that area in yellow in the original e-mail and in particular I have put in red text the bit I would like a response to please.
I know that this just refers to Family Tickets from the Football Ombudsman but:
• A/ Have you done anything to implement this into your regulations since that report? I have looked, but can’t see anything. If you haven’t can you please give an explanation as to why not?
• B/ Can you advise what the Football League is doing to encourage fair pricing to away fans and discourage loopholes like Fleetwood are using by offering free membership and then free entry to home juniors that results in a difference in pricing per child of £15 standing or £17 sitting and which surely goes against your ethos to treat home and away supporters the same?
Kind Regards
Chris Wynne

Yes they are.
Matt Williams influence at both clubs for you there. Once they are 9 though it is a huge jump to £12.

Pleased to see Liverpool (or Fenway to be precise) backing down on the £77 tickets. Very interesting to see ticket price protests in Germany too: There is the perception in Britain that tickets don't cost that much in Germany, but that's wrong, says Quambusch (member of Dortmund campaign group) .
"When it comes to standing tickets, it's ok," he said. "But you don't have so many standing tickets. It's not cheap, in a way." www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/european/

Clubs will keep pushing the prices as long as people keep turning up. We'll be told that it's all about getting the top players here or in our case borderline journeymen pros.

I can watch a premier league game in Malawi for 10 Tambala. That's about a penny. Yes, a penny. Proof if any were needed of the rip off prices here. I rest my case.

More effective to stage a walkout during the 2nd half like the Liverpool fans did!

It's all become very topical with the Liverpool protest last weekend, hasn't it?
Great to see that their actions caused Fenway to do a U-turn.
As others have said, if people will pay it, then no amount of grumbling will change it. Josh and I gave Peterborough, Fleetwood and Blackpool a miss because of the cost.
I have e-mailed the latter two and given them my thoughts and told them myself and others weren't going because of the dear admission charges.
Fleetwood though is yet another argument and that is the discrimination whereby an under 16 can register for free and then get free tickets for two areas in the home end, but this is not available to away fans.
Their CEO conveniently side stepped the question when I asked if I could register Josh and if other away fans could do likewise. It is blatant exploitation of away fans and I will take it all the way.

Excellent news, although sadly too late for Salop fans.
I have had the following e-mail from Fleetwood F.C.'s CEO:
Chris,
Further to your communications relating to junior pricing. We can confirm that we are looking at our approach for next season and while we undertake that work we are offering discounted pricing to those away junior supporters who are paid up members of their own supporters club or season ticket holders. Our junior supporters incidentally will pay £20.00 to become a member of our own Junior Membership scheme until the review is completed.
I thank you for you correspondence.
Yours sincerely,
Steve Curwood
This is no doubt in my mind because I then took it to the FL because I wasn't satisfied with Fleetwood's reply. The CEO Cc'd in the FL in this latest response to me, something he hadn't done before.

Back on track I sent a reply to Steve Curwood as I noted there was no update on the Fleetwood website re prices: Hi Steve Many thanks for your further communication on this and I am glad to see you have taken on board my observations and acted upon them. Unfortunately it is too late for my son and I this season. We did not attend as per my original communication, but would have done with a fair pricing structure as he is both a season ticket holder and a member of the Junior Shrews. However, it is good that going forward away fans are to be considered more fairly and I would hope that the discount to which you refer is both sizeable and in line with what your youngsters already have as I’m sure that the vast majority of under 16’s who attend Fleetwood F.C. games will already be a member of your Under 16’s scheme. I shall continue to monitor this and I would hope that your website is very quickly updated to reflect what you have communicated to me as, at the moment, it does not as can be seen in the links below. www.fleetwoodtownfc.com/tickets/ticket-prices/ www.fleetwoodtownfc.com/tickets/u16s-go-free/ As I said, I will be monitoring this.

I am very pleased to say that having checked again just, the below is now on their website with regards to ticket prices for away fans:
Away supporters
Visiting supporters will be housed in The Parkside Stand (seating) and The Percy Ronson Stand (terrace) for their visit to Highbury. Away supporters can purchase tickets in advance from their own ticket office, when tickets have been requested by the opposition club. Alternatively you can contact Fleetwood Town on 01253 775080.
Visiting supporters can also purchase on matchday by visiting the away ticket office, located at the junction of Highbury Avenue/Hatfield Road post code FY7 7DS, or by visiting the main ticket office.
Please note that a ticket must be purchased before entry to the stadium as we operate an automated turnstile system at Highbury. Please also note that The Percy Ronson Stand will not be open every game due to logistical reasons.
Matchday Away Adult Over 65/U18 U16 U5
Parkside (Seating) £25 £20 £12 FREE
Percy Ronson (Terrace) £23 £18 FREE

I would now suggest to any Town fans who took kids that they e-mail Fleetwood and ask for a refund!

Thank you Bordershrew. It just proves they were in the wrong and knew it. A shame that somebody elsewhere didn't challenge much earlier in the season.
Did you go to Fleetwood yourself? If so, please do e-mail them and ask for a refund. If you want any help putting something together just let me know and I'll be glad to help.

Off to A.Madrid vs Villareal in few weeks (Marseille vs PSG next week tho). Suffice to say cost of these isn't as much as these games added together! Really? And you wouldn't travel to Blackpool or Fleetwood despite living in the NW for the sake of a few quid? Struggling with this a bit. At this level £18-£20 is more than enough but with everything else, rightly or wrongly you will get price fluctuations. Saw many a club try and fail to lure supporters to the ground with various offers and price reductions. Only perhaps Bradford have had any long-term success with these incentives. Anyone hoping that dropping the ticket price by a couple of quid will automatically turn us into a mini-Germany may have to reconsider. The problems with our game go much further than ticket price.
