Suffice to say I will only be going to one of those three and I will be getting tickets this Saturday to take full advantage of the early bird prices.

Thankfully Josh did the JPT game with me at Fleetwood and has been with me to Bloomers for a couple of Blackpool games in the past.
I want to take him to all the games, but there is a limit as to what I am prepared to pay and both Fleetwood and Blackpool not only exceed it but way surpass it.

I don't want to buy shares in Blackpool and Fleetwood, I just want to see my team play at both venues, without being ripped off by these 2 clubs.
Living in the north west I had earmarked these 2 away fixtures, not so sure now given that they fall on consecutive weekends. May just do one of the 2 now rather than both.
There is a BBC TV programme called "Rip off Britain", this should be a topic for one of their future shows.

Actually I think Colchester are the cheekiest having so many different prices and time limits. They must really think they are something special!!!

But you being a regular Sheila, I'm sure you, like me, will take advantage of the early bird scheme and make a decent saving and watch football at a reasonable price. Logistically it must be a bit of a nightmare to run, especially keeping up with the sale of tickets for visiting teams at each cut-off point.

True I will be early birding. To be honest logistically I hope it is hard for Colchester!!!!
The first cut off date is well before the end of the month and some folks' pay day I would think !!!!

They must really think they are something special!!! you mean a bit like our season ticket scheme seems a good idea to me gives true fans a fair chance to get a cheaper ticket the league make the rules and teams like blackpool exploit them we'll probably find that its £25 to sit in similar home seats too but a lot cheaper in certain parts of the ground that are not much different tends to happen more with clubs who have visited the top flight maybe the league could step in a make so new rules i know its hard if not impossible but maybe a home club should not be able to charge more than the visiting side charges for the return fixture or at least offer a compulsory discount for travelling fans who hold a home season ticket

ST holders aside, clubs need to be more inventive to overcome ticket prices.
Adopt group save schemes similar to rail travel.
For example 3 tickets for price of 2.
Club will already know the income per game from ST Holders so match by match tickets should be sold to help boost attendances from occasional fans home or away.

TBH I would include Town and everyone else in L1 as being in the rip off prices bracket. Despite being LEAGUE 1 it is actually THIRD rate football.
One of the biggest reasons I stopped going 8 years ago was because I couldn't consider paying around £20 a game, wasn't anywhere near value for money to me.

Fleetwood can do one - £38 to stand up for me and the 13 year old for a division 3 game. Greedy buggers.

It's a pity the Football League can't be more involved in selling its product. Couple of ideas to improve things:
Sell a Football League away season ticket for, say, £75-100 or so and that gives you a 50% discount for any away ticket. Clubs would have to commit to a decent fixed number of away tickets but it would reward those that travel away regularly, who must be paying a fortune.
Impose consistent price bracket criteria. The differential pricing between clubs for what should be standard categories (eg seniors, students etc) is ludicrous. If you take a 13 year old to the cinema in Blackpool or Plymouth, you can expect to pay more or less the same price for their ticket. In football it could be anything from nothing to £15 or more.
Just make it simple and consistent ffs! What's the starting age for a senior? Is it a student discount or an under 22 (or whatever) discount? Can we have just 2, at most 3 children's age groups with consistent pricing?
Get it frigging sorted Football League because the clubs can't organise themselves, let alone agree with each other, and this is all just a massive p*** off for the fans. We do have other options for our leisure time and money. I've voted with my wallet so far this season by not going to any away games. I could afford to but I object to the stupid pricing and I just can't be bothered with the hassle of it.

The football league seemed more than happy last time the price of football survey was completed:
Shaun Harvey, Football League chief executive:
"Football League clubs continue to offer compelling football at a price that is affordable. The significant numbers of season ticket holders at matches, along with ever greater numbers of young fans, has resulted in the average price paid per paying spectator being as low as £14 across the League's 72 clubs. "Clearly others, such as adults and those paying on the day, will usually pay more. Clubs therefore need to ensure that their ticketing policies provide the right balance between fair value for supporters and generating the income that sustains on-field performance, which overwhelmingly they do."

Thing is for all 3 of these trips, you are looking at significant time & cost in getting to them all too. Think that's the other thing that's wrong

Blackpool....tremendous value for money. If last season is anything to go by you get a marvellous view of the beach just by sitting anywhere in the ground.

Me and my two lads (12 and 16) have done a handful of away matches and one home this season and my wallet is £300 lighter on tickets alone... I really think I've got to draw the line at £53 for the three of us to stand and watch Fleetwood vs Shrewsbury. Sorry, poor fan, part timer, call it what you will but on one of the various family deals in the summer the four of us will only pay about double this for a full day with rides on the pleasure beach. Message to clubs - stop taking the **** or your crowds will diminish. And it'll serve you fkin well right.
