Amazing. Totally against the run of play I'd imagine.

Cannot get possession, cannot retain the little possession we do get, spent the last 15 defending, and look the poorer side.... Sure to sneak a winner but you cannot tell who is the league 1 side here Couldn't have got it more right. You have to feel for Grimsby.

Unconvincing win by the sounds of it but a bit like our away defeat to Preston last year in the cup. After playing the better football we were beaten 1-0 nil by them and you argue they scarcely deserved it on the day.

Depends on which website you use. www.sportinglife.com/football/live/match-stats/352462/shrewsbury-town-v-grimsby-townThis states that Grimsby had 9 shots to our 8. And from my reading of those stats on the BBC website, Grimsby had 11 shots to our 9. However, 4 of ours were on target compared to 2 for them. So your BBC website actually gives Grimsby 2 more shots and us only 1 more shot than the Sporting Life website! And they both agree that Grimsby had 9 corners to our none and that Grimsby had more possession.

Gutted. Listening to the commentary it sounded like we were the better team again but at the end of the day we haven't managed to score against you in 180 minutes and we all know that goals win games but I think our players can be proud of themselves.
Bodes well for the league though as if we can reproduce that form in the league until the end of the season we should give ourselves a great chance of finally getting out of this league.
Great turnout by our fans tonight too and sounded very loud on the commentary too.
Anyway, good luck at Cardiff and for the rest of the season.

Come the eightieth minute I was willing for Grimsby to score & put us out of our misery. The prospect of watching that s**t for the next 30 minutes was making my eyes bleed.
A damn awful game.
But special mention goes to the Grimsby support. Good stuff, good chants. Well done!

Well! Of course it's great to get through but that match has left me seriously worried for the remainder of the season
Bar the central defence which got stuck in we were hapless tonight with poor tactics, dreadful passing and worse still little work rate. Grimsby had masses of space to play in and with better finishing could and should have won easily
Collins and Barnett looked lost, midfield were like a cat on a hot tin roof and our wide players delivered little of any quality up front
Was pretty positive after the Sheffield United we had turned a corner but after Walsall and these two games against Grimsby I'm really struggling for positives. Hoping for much better against Swindon
Add in more injuries to Grandison and Whitehead and the squads looking thin again

They and Grimsby players really didn't deserve to go home without a 3rd round place

Over the history of the Cup this has happened on numerous occasions. The underdog has dominated only for the higher league club to snatch victory. That's the FA cup. Feel sorry for Grimsby (just a bit)

Disgusting performance
How we've won that is an even bigger mystery than how we got a draw in the original game.
Feel for Grimsby. Great showing and great support.
As for us, slow, uncreative and downright depressing to watch

Feel sorry for Grimsby (just a bit) Showing my age a bit here but I can remember when we played Everton at Goodison in The League Cup in 1984. Everton were the team of the moment and were the FA Cup holders and went on to win The European Cup Winners Cup and the League Title that season. We were languishing towards the foot of Division Two and were absolutely battered on the night. They had 20 corners to our none and had a similar amount of shots. We had one shot early on that went miles wide until the 89th minute when we were awarded a free kick and Paul Wilkinson headed the free kick over Neville Southall. Everton bought Wilko a few months later. As you say, that's football and why we all love the game and spend a fortune following our team.

Further proof that Mickey"s diamond works well away but is not up to standard at home. We needed width to get behind them and only started to look interested when Black came pn. Shows how much I know, I would have hauled Ogogo off after an hour. Well done Halstead and Brown and Black when he came on. Hard luck Mariners and good luck in your promotion quest.

Those were the days harryhaddock. With forwards like Wilkinson, Drinkell and Lund, Ford and Bonnyman in midfield, The Moore brothers at the back and Batch in goal you had a very good team indeed.

Well said HarryHaddock, I hope you get promoted, Grimsby fans were great in our last ever game at the Gay Meadow even holding up a placard wishing us well in the playoffs. Decent club with decent fans, good luck with your campaign this season.

Unfortunately now becoming distant memories but at least they are still there. I've seen the good times and some brilliant wins but I really feel for our young fans who have never known us win anything. It was Phil Bonnyman who that last minute free kick at Everton that night and Batchy had the game of his life that ably assisted by Chris Nichol and the late great Kev Moore (RIP)

Grimsby may yet be playing Cardiff City. Apparently Sky Sports are suggesting that Black was suspended and shouldn't have played.
I'm assuming that the Club checked on this, as a number of us were surprised when his name appeared on the team sheet.

Halstead kept us in that... One excellent save from a close range header. Anyone arguing over shots on target needs to know that we only really troubled them once a few seconds before the goal (KaiKai) and then Ogogos follow up for the goal Lets hope the players get plenty of rest between now and Saturday as MM suggesting P'boro game a lot out of them.... So much that they could barely keep up with a Conference side??

One of the most depressing performances I've seen from us in a long while. Pedestrian football, sidewards, backwards and then a hoof upfield to give it back to them again. Pass and stand still, instead of pass and move.
Players look leggy, slow and clumsy. Even Kaikai is being dragged down to our level bit by bit.
Outplayed for 180 minutes but somehow have crept through.
ONLY positive was Mark Halstead in goal, who looked very assured

Cut off point in football league for 5 bookings was 30th November so black was able to play. The Premiership cut off for 5 bookings is 31st December and probably why Sky got it wrong. Cut off for 10 bookings in league is 2nd March.

I think he's now a marked man and he's struggling to get into the game.

He needs to come looking for the ball more, but can see what you are saying. 3 players on him tonight as soon as he was finally given the ball. A bit of support from his teammates in giving him an option wouldn't go amiss either
