After yesterday's dismal performance changes are necessary, the Tin pot trophy on Tuesday provides the perfect opportunity to do this and let players prove their worth. My team for Tuesday would be: Leutwiler Patterson,Ellis,Smith,NKP Clark,McKnight,Black,Whalley McAlinden,Ethan Jones This 11 should do well because they all have points to prove and will want to get in the team again. What are everyone else's thoughts?

What are everyone else's thoughts? I would give Patterson a go at right back or right wing back and switch Tootle to the left where he has played successfully before for Crewe. Let's see how Black compares to Ogogo in midfield and give Mcalinden a game. KP hasn't had much of a rest since he came back so rest him.

Believe competition rules state we can't make too many changes to the side. Halstead may as well continue in goal IMO, maybe give Grandison another chance to stake his claim and probably have to keep one of the full-backs in because we are limited with our options. Patterson, McKnight and McAlinden may well all be worth a shot.

A good opportunity for Ian Black to make his debut methinks.

I think it's 6 changes allowed?
I'd go:
Leutwiler
Tootle Ellis NKP Brown
Clark Black Lawrence Kaikai
MacAlinden Collins

A promising youth striker, worth a shot considering every other forwards failure

Good shout on Ethan Jones that ia the same reason why I put vernon in. Because he deserves his chance aswell, not given a fair shot. Witch for me is very baffling

Oh yeah and in my opinion sadler doesn't get forward and has got no pace. And grandison omg he looks so unfit has lost his pace. And too many mistakes would not have them anywhere near the team

I would love to see Ethan Jones given a game... he looks an outstanding prospect and just can't stop scoring for the youth team.
I would certainly want to see Clark back, in my view he shouldn't have been excluded at Coventry and a first view of Ian Black would also be welcome.
Come on Town, let's get back into winning ways... but... hmm... Fleetwood away... I suppose a Bobby Grant hat-trick is inevitable.

Looks like a few changes will be enforced. Personally, I think that's a pity because the lack of a settled team hasn't helped us at all this season.
The important thing for me is that Black starts, that we try to give Clark-Kaikai-Cole another game to develop together and that we settle on a formation for a few games and stick with it. If it's 3-5-2, that means Brown on the left.
We desperately need better quality from our strikers - not just finishing but movement and link play. I'm not sure they have it in them but we don't have much choice. I've no idea how good Ethan Jones might be but suspect it's either too early for him and too much to ask of a youngster or he won't be with us much longer!

On the facebook page update - they say Halstead's got a strain and out for 2 weeks, Black due to start, JLAA is in France and Collo has paternity leave

Black and Brown to start - pity we haven't got one of the Greens, Ron or Richard plus Stuart Gray(sp). Have we ever had a player called White? Faye White would have improved our back four last Saturday.

Whoever plays, whether the forwards up front who need to find the net and take pressure off the defence that way, members of the back line if a 4 or a 5 all have to do their job. If one of the back line (and at the moment for me that is Sadler and the opposition certainly seem to have cottoned on to his weakness) is not doing their job then that affects others in the back line as they will be wondering what the hell is he doing now, and not concentrating on their own game. Mellon and Jackson are tinkering too much, how can players gain confidence, get consistency playing together, or have any trust in the management if there is constant change and a player being dropped after one bad game yet some are played persistently without having at least an average game. To me Mellon is struggling to establish a 4 4 2 team, he doesn't want to play 3 5 2 as he needs the front line support. Always going to be more difficult at this level. Some of his recruitment not up to it this term.

That's good news then that broqn and black are in. And that collo and jlaa aren't available it means the fringe, players can play vernon included perfect opportunity for MM to bite the bullet. And mix it up big style and then stick to it with no sadler, anywhere near the squad ;-)

Barnett and McAlindon scored both goals in the previous round. Definite starters.

Why is it always "Mellon and Jackson" when things go wrong and "Mellon" when it goes well? The agendas some people have against MJ is phenomenal.
As for Vernon being better than Barnett - based on what? Barnett's managed as many goals this season as Vernon did all last season, I believe, plus he can run without looking like he's stuck in treacle.

Based on that well known football philosophy that if your team is struggling and there are players that haven't played for ages, they are the answer to the problems. I actually feel a bit sorry for Vernon as hasn't been given much of a chance but its clear that he's not going to get one now with 4 strikers ahead of him.

The Vernon v Barnett comparison is a bit like two men fighting over a comb. In my view neither are good enough for league one but at least we didn't pay £100,000 for Vernon to be useless
