Having witnessed our performance at Coventry I believe MM needs to make some tough decisions.
Defence. We were cruelly exposed yesterday by the pace of the Coventry forward line. They moved the ball quickly and ran at our backline with pace, always prepared to try and beat their man. In the first half they had good shouts for three penalties each time coming from our left side. In addition they had two one on one's with halstead which he stopped superbly. By half time it could or should have been 5-0.
Let's not kid ourselves any further the weak link is left back. Any scout watching us yesterday will report back that is where teams need to target their attacks.
Midfield . Thought Lawrence had a good game yesterday and generally the midfield can get the ball down and move it around comfortably. However yesterday they lacked a penetrating ball to the forwards and in particular failed to provide cover for the defence as Coventry ran through them with ease. Lawrence and Cole have class, the lad from Dagenham brings little to the party. And the lad from palace had no confidence to run at defenders yesterday although to be fair this was the first time I had seen him.
Forwards. Both Collins and Barnett have been living off scraps for week's. There has been little service to them so is it their fault that they have produced so few goals? Yesterday's lack of subs was worrying. If macca is not good enough then send him back to wolves and find somebody else. The players that can run at defenders namely Clark and whalley were either dropped to the bench or failed to make the squad....unbelievable in my view.
Fleetwood is an opportunity to shakes things up....namely replace Sadler, get whalley on the pitch and tell some of the players to get back to running with the ball.
