McKnight and Dom Smith are on U21 duty. Cheers, I'd have asked about Smith too if I'd remembered!

Barnett had a glorious chance within first 5 minutes to have settled everyone down a bit. Hit the keepers legs when one-on-one. Slipped through by Clark? I think. Look a lot more stable 3-5-2 and brown plays ridiculously high up on the left but could be a ploy to keep their fullbacks from overlapping? Barnett plays like a beast in 5 minute spells whee he wins everything in the air and bullies the defenders with his physicality but then decides to stroll around uninterested for 10. If you can make those 5 mins 20 then 5 off you'd have one hell of a striker!!!!! Patterson worth a mention as he has been decent with the ball and put a couple of good challenges in with not much coming down their left side. Not a bad half but not setting the world alight either!!

Shrewsweb reporting Barnett rounded the keeper before scoring. Can only assume Oldham's keeper was badly injured at the time ?

I understand all the cynicism, but we have two good injured players back... we are all over the Latics like a rash and playing well. The players have to pull themselves into a tight, happy unit again... and a positive win will be just the ticket tonight. Then on to Barnsley. Come on Salop! Time to climb that mountain again that mysteriously appeared over the Meadow.

Like a 16 year old believing in Santa I'm still hoping Tyrone is going to be a top striker for us. Can be very frustrating at times though

I continue to keep the faith with Barnett. Convinced he'll end the season with a decent tally. Meanwhile, the return of Wes and NKP plus new ex Man U attacking midfielder with pace leaves me oddly feeling quite optimistic despite Woods exit. Bring on Barnsley, genuinely looking forward to it, new stadium for me as well.

Is that 3 for the season for Barnett? No striker at this level will be perfect but I'm quite happy with him tbh. Looks fitter, sharper and quicker too having had a good pre-season from what I've seen - why do so many of our fans seem to hate him? Could it be because they made snap judgements on him last season when unfit and couldn't possibly change their views?! Not a dig at anyone in particular btw, just find it odd that everyone at games seems to slate him.

Great that Weso and Nat made it through three quarters of the game. Hopefully there will be no ill effects and they will both be in contention for Saturday.
In these tough times, the players couldn't do more than get out there, play well and win a football match tonight. Well done guys.
And paint pot it may be, but I'd rather be us, winning and in the next round, than Oldham, returning home, knocked out and well beaten.

Top marks to manager and players for tonight's win. With all the comings and goings around the team today it's really positive to have got a win, clean sheet and a couple of goals tonight
