Why is mellon still insistant on playing the diamond especially when the two full backs don't have much pace. It seems to leave big holes down the wings which other teams exploite.

Not only that. Ogogo is patently unsuited to play the role at the head of the diamond performed by Grant last season.
With the full backs lacking pace, it's square pegs for round holes I'm afraid.

Ogogo belongs where R Woods is, who most thought would be gone by now (and may still go). Even with R Woods still here Ogogo is a good addition but I agree a more incisive attacking midfielder (was M Woods supposed to do this?) and one better winger would make things look rosier.

Lawrence at RWB is not getting the best out of him that is for sure. Ogogo as said should be where R Woods plays but got no chance with that 1. Brown never a LWB more a old fashioned winger 10 years ago Demetriou should be playing instead of Brown Saturday thats for sure. M woods has also been playing out of position when played left mid. So frustrating at the mo and Mellon aint doing himself any favours after impressing so much. Something does not seem right and i dont want to be negative about this and hope its a blip but our togetherness spirit after a promotion loads of positivity has drained and it started when we knew that we could not re sign all players from last season to then tell players your not wanted and now the incorrect DNA.

Have I missed something? Persistent with 4-4-2 and a diamond? Lawrence at RWB?!

I would play Woods if we can keep him at the tip of the diamond with Lawrence and Ogogo at the base. Need to sign someone who with a bit of quality with pace who can deliver a decent cross for either Collins or Barnett to get on the end of

Why is MM not playing Whalley then?

No idea, he couldn't have done more when given the opportunity at Oldham. Same could be said for Clark. He must have his reasons but I've no idea what they may be. Listening to the match on Saturday it sounded like we were crying out for a game changer. That's exactly what the Whalley / Clark intro was at Boundary Park.

Interesting that Ogogo said 3-5-2 was the players preferred formation and MM pretty much confirmed it's what will be sticking to for a while in his pre Oldham interview. I can see a fully fit Tootle fitting in but the left side seems a problem.

A Shane Ferguson type signing would be excellent on the left side. However I think we'll be looking to sign a number 10 to provide that link between midfield and our forwards.

Me included.
