I read somewhere that MW was on radio Shropshire and said that the deal was worth £950k with add ons, anyone hear this or is this just internet porkies? As others have said, the deal is what it is, but it would be a much better deal if this was true!

We will never know, wouldn't stress over it.

No. But it would be nice to know if we might benefit from a good % add on for resale. Luton have just banked well over a million for Gray.
But if what african has said is correct, it sounds like there might be no re-sale clause, otherwise MW would not be able to calculate that the whole deal is worth £950k, as he would not be able to factor in what a re-sale clause would be worth, as he'd have no way of knowing how much this would be.

MW said we got more for Goldson than we told Leeds we wanted for him. He didn't quote an exact figure and said both clubs need a written agreement to divulge that info (SALOP prob never agree).
There is a good sell on attached (and to Ginnelly) and he sees that being very important.

What figure did we quote to Leeds God knows, but if we were willing to accept whatever that was and ended up getting more it can't be too bad??

Allegedly it was 800k. Though who knows for sure?

A lot of us, myself included are getting a bit naggy over how much we are letting these players go for.
We always feel like we've been ripped off compared to what other clubs get for similar or worse players.
Not finding out for sure only fuels the fire, but I'm sure MW isn't daft.
The good sell on clause is as key as the initial fee for me. I'd hope we are negotiating 15-25%, the higher the better!

Has MW confirmed that we have sell on clauses in place for both players then?

Given the likely size of the fees received compared to our overall turnover, they'll likely be material and should feature as a separate line in the accounts for this season when they are produced. Won't be broken down by individual player but, given that we've only received two transfer fees (of note anyway) this season, it should at least give an indication as to how much in fees we received off the back of the sales.
Until then, no point speculating because, let's be honest, none of us have a clue and it's a commercial advantage for the Town to not have the number bandied about too much.

Matt talked on radio Shropshire about sell on clause's - specifying that the model he prefers is a two layered sell on I.e if BHA sell Goldson to Telford we will get a % of the fee. If Telford then sell him to Man Utd then we will also get cut of that transfer as well.
The question remains was he good enough at negotiations to ensure that was included in the deal.

The add on I don't like is more money after so many appearances. Unless the appearances are a realistically low figure, the temptation is sometimes for the Club to sell him on just before that appearance number is reached.
