The club shouldn't sell unless we get a mega deal . We've already sold Goldson!looks what MK Dons got for Alli , haven't seen much of him but they managed to wangle £5m and a loan back for the season! I'd only sell if we got at least £2m and a loan back .the club should offer him a new contract now with a £3m release clause in it . As has been said before Ashley Westwood cost villa £2m and I think woods has that potential easily.having sold Goldson already the club should stand up to under par bids and woodsy seems straight talking and sensible from interviews and that he's enjoying it at the club . If he's got sense he will stay like Goldson did for the extra year . fair do's you aint half got a sense of humour hart was worth £1.5m 10 years ago with 60 ish games under his belt . Was he that good at the time? If the club let woods go for less than that would be stupid! Do you not think woods has potential to be better than Ashley Westwood ?

W got an undisclosed fee for Goldson, I'd expect more than that for Woods. You misheard, we got "undies" for Goldson.
If that's true, it's pants.

It does not matter what you or I think, its all about Ryan Woods, and what he wants, for instance, he now feels its time for him to progress his career, and he has done enough to deserve that, if a prem club comes in, then the club have a responsibility to inform him of interest, now regardless what they offer, if he wants to go, he will.
Now if a club, and lets use Brentford as a marker come in, and they offer £100k, the club could refuse that, and quite rightly so, But RW could then hand in a written transfer request. then say 3 other clubs come in, and a bidding war starts, its still in the hands of RW where he wants to go.... that is just life.
FYI, i think and hope we get 7 figures, just doubt it would be anywhere near that, just out of interest how long did Westwood have on his contract??
PS, if he had longer left on his contract, i reckon we would get double or triple the amount

I'd like him to stay obv, but think we'd miss out on the best deal if it was left to a tribunal.
The main thing is to get him into a club in as high a league as possible (prem hopefully) and then reap the rewards of a big sell on later down the line.

One thing I've noticed about Woods (R), is that he looks better against better players, remember Liecester and Chelsea!? .. And now a strong Palace side... A v good sign for a potential buyer surely AND a good indicator his value could get very high in the future, and that could be Christmas Day, Jackpot, Lottery/Pools Win for Salop if they negotiate a strong sell on.

It's looking like Brentford are about to get their man. Hardly surprising they like the lad considering they base everything on stats and Woodsy's pass completion is probably one of the highest about in the lower league at present. They've just got loads for Andre Gray as well so I hope we're getting over a million out of them. Why would you say that ? Looking like Brentford ??

And the Shrewsbury faithful did gather on Lyth Hill as the moon was at its zenith and looked towards the holy shrine of the Greenhous Meadow to witness the angel Ryan being taken up by a fiery chariot into the high clouds of the Championship or beyond.
But the fiery chariot did not appear.
This caused confusion and there was much gnashing of teeth, and the flock turned against the prophet Rob of Darwin, accusing him... "you said the angel Ryan would be leaving us by the end of the day... FACT!"
And the prophet, Rob of Darwin sayeth to the angry throng... "Er sorry... I meant tomorrow."
But the crowd were scornful:
"Not much of a prophet are you?" "Even czarcasm gets more predictions right than you." "I could have been home watching Breaking Bad on Netflix" "Let's stone him." "Nah... let's get stoned and see if there's still a pub open in Bayston Hill"
But the wise man they called the Foz said... "But at least he is still with us for at least another day... perhaps he will even be able to play for us against the Land of Burton.
At that there was great rejoicing and the throng did burst into song: "And it's Shrewsbury Town... Shrewsbury Town FC... we're by far the greatest team....
And their beautiful voices with the sound of harps did fade as they made their way from the hill, down to the plains below.
"Er, the same time tomorrow lads," called out the prophet Rob of Darwin to the departing faithful. "Yeah Rob... as long as you lay on some food... even if its just those loaves and fishes again." "And can you copy that trick again with the flagons of water!"
And so the saga continues tomorrow. Will the angel Ryan be taken by the boatman across the great River Styx to land at the Ford of Brent or will the fiery chariots of the rangers of the Queen's park carry him off first. Or will he stand firm at the Elysian Meadow and fight the men from the Land of Beer and slay the terrifying giant of the Northwestmen, Duffy?
Same time tomorrow.

In today's sun it says Brentford hope to beat Preston to sign woodsy and that we want 600,000 for him! If that is the case that would be a bargain for a lot of clubs! Imo losing woods now would be a massive blow he's been by far our best player so far this season

To answer the original question, I would say "going".

Surely after his performance against Palace, he has to be worth two to three times that £600.000 figure when you see what other players are moving around for.

Methinks Sussex Shrew could start a permanent thread with this.
We've not had one since young Albert Stroller presumably followed his hero TB to the caravans.

I think the Sun are using £600k as a benchmark due to it being the figure quoted for Goldson.
Minimum £1 million for me, superb player.

The song for today. The Clash - "Should I stay or should I go" Or Please Release Me? Should I stay or should I go might also be appropriate for MD and SV, as would Go Now by the Moody Blue and Ambers.

The issue with his value is his contact. His 'true' value is a lot higher than £600,000. However, he's got 10 months remaining on a contract that will be worth no more £75,000 to Woods. Clubs know that a tribunal will mean we'll get a lower fee anyway. Thus, he's really only worth half a million with the way things are.
So we're stuck in a position where we (hopefully) are trying to get him tied down to a new contract. He knows and his agent knows that clubs are scouting him and very interested and he's on the verge of signing for a club that could potentially triple his wages overnight. So quite rightly I imagine they're very hesitant to signing a contract extension, that in the short term will be financially viable, but in the medium term might mean a club has to spend more on a transfer fee to us and have less in the wage pot.
Hopefully we can come to an agreement and a good idea would be to use a transfer clause that's agreed with his agent so that we're forced to accept a fee from a club that meets our agreed valuation.

Didn't Paul Evans leave early so that we could get £110,000 for him from Brentford, whereas if he'd run his contract down he could have gone for nothing with a higher signing on fee?

Seems strange to see so many people worried about him going and hoping we don't sell him on the cheap. Judging by comments by fans at games you'd have thought we would be grateful he could be leaving

I suspect a fee structure similar to Goldson's will be used.. My concern is how the windfall will be used as we will miss him, but it may give us other opportunities we did not have before in the way we set up and play with new personnel..and I suspect initially the new personnel will be loan players hopefully long loans if the players have a desire to integrate and give it their all such as Bobby Grant did last season

Just hope we negotiate a large sell on fee. Luton will be getting over £1 million from the sale of Gray I believe.

Jackson Browne: "Oh won't you stay just a little bit longer" Or the Hollies - Stay. Or Chicago - If You Leave Me Now. Or re Ginnelly and Goldson going and Woods staying - 2 out of 3 ain't bad - Meatloaf.
