Had to battle for the point. Just as we nullified there threat and the crowd in 1st half LL gives ball away and we one down. According to the commentary on Shropshire it was Sadler who made the mistake not Lawrence?

I think he needs some decent studs personally as seems to slip too often!

Game after game after game opposition fans single out Woods yet some of our fans still moan about him.... great start to the season for the lad.

MD only needs to bide his time.

I didn't go today but I listened to the radio, they basically said we did well to get a point today and no many teams will get anything from there this season. Which is why I found this thread on the Bradford message board both puzzling and worrying: www.claretandbanter.uk/threads/wow-that-was-poor.45939/Now if they was that bad and we was lucky to get a point does that make us awful and going down?

MD only needs to bide his time. Put in (well out) an awful cross after a decent town first half move, but not sure I'd say he was poor. Probably got forward more than Tootle, but both full backs struggled to provide the width needed to make that system work. Personally would like to see MD given a chance though, as seen nothing from MS to suggest he's the superior player. Decent point for us in the end, though, so well done Town.

Pleased with a point but I thought two very poor teams today both teams only scored due to terrible errors no where near the confidence we had last season a poor turn out by town I asume most fans expected nothing from the game and to be honest we showed nothing that looked like a first win today

They'll be disappointed not to have edged it as the home side, but 1-1 is a fair result. We didn't do enough to win it, but their goal was courtesy of a massive **** up by Lawrence, rather than any great play on their part. With a bit of luck either side could have nicked it. Delusions of grandeur on their part if they think they have any right to be turning teams like us over. You're not Premier League any more Bantams, and haven't been for quite some time...

We have no rights to be turning any team over this season BUT if we are wanting a play off push we need to be picking up three points at home more often than not. Just a frustrating afternoon for us all round. Anyway, came on just to rave about your little Centre Midfielder (Woods). What a talent! Would love to watch him play every week. Great on the ball, gets his foot in, good composure and was a real bundle of energy and a major reason you came out of the game with a point. I'd assume the bigger teams would be after him if he plays like that every week. Great player Also got to agree on a previous thread, can't see our CB target being Goldson, he is defo worth more than £150k. Apart from a few lacks of concentration he looked good yesterday. Anyway, good luck for the rest of the season, see you in Shrewsbury soon

Sadler had a better game Was a bit more than a mistake, great 'killer' through ball to their striker

Excellent point from a game that at times looked just beyond us. At times we play some lovely passing football and then ruin it by needlessly giving the ball away but hopefully they will works this as the season goes along. Lucky not to be penalised in the last minute because Grandison definitely fouled their player on the edge of the touch line.

Have just seen highlights and yes I can see it was an awful error by LL. obviously I miss heard however Mark Elliot seemed to be critical of MS on a few occasions so was probably why I thought it was him.
Regarding Clive's two poor teams quote sounds harsh as commentary stated the jump in quality from League 2 was very evident!

I'm really surprised by all the negativity on this thread, albeit mostly from people reacting to the radio commentary.
Yes, we were incredibly sloppy at times, but individual errors are not a huge shock at this stage of the season. These errors aside, we played our part in a good game of football, and were decent value for a point.
Both full-backs were better, and will improve further with more game time. We seemed to have more joy on the rare occasions we got the ball out wide, so I was shocked when MM kept the same formation when bringing JLAA on.
If we're going to persevere with this formation Ogogo needs to get on the ball more for me, but early days.
One thing I'm not surprised by is the universal praise of Woods. I was (slightly!) critical of him at times last year for looking sideways too often, but yesterday was pretty much the complete midfield performance. Industrious, positive, composed - absolutely top class.

Mellon expects to get something out of every game and why not?

An excellent point today.
Also I was pleased to see that Liam Lawrence kept his place for today, I thought he was missed in the Millwall defeat. He even got an assist.... wrong end mind !

A few thoughts on yesterday:
1) It's no wonder Bradford City are looking for a centre back. Their pairing yesterday, McArdle & Sheehan, lacked height in comparison to Barnett & Collins, especially Sheehan. It was no surprise to me that our goal came from a headed flick-on, and I was half expecting us to get another by the aerial route. But we kept it on the deck a bit too much perhaps. No harm in passing long if we have a physical advantage!
We were the bigger team overall, but got very few set pieces including only two corners.
2) We just need to crisp up our midfield interchange passing a bit. Bradford seemed to be anticipating the odd under-hit pass, and were quick to seize on a few of them. Bradford worked hard and closed us down, but our midfield did well for the most part.
3) Sadler was definitely better than versus Millwall, possibly because he didn't have someone as tricky as Onyedinma sending him dizzy. Yes, his first cross was garbage, but Demetriou's crossing was often in the same category!
4) In general the defence looks nowhere near as composed as last season, and there were some panicky moments. Whether this is down to better quality opponents or fielding 2 (rather than 3) centre backs, I'm not sure. Will Mellon revert to 3 when NKP is match fit? I think that depends on how these 4 have been performing. A clean sheet or two may see us sticking to the diamond formation (or whatever it is) for a while to come.
5) I'm reserving judgement on the new boys for now. Sadler's a returnee, so I'm allowed to comment.

Didn't go yesterday so can't comment on match specifics. Happy with a point as I was fearing the worst when we conceded so close to half time.
I do like to get the opposition view of the match and spent an entertaining half an hour reading posts on Claret and Banter forum. If you are ever feeling down after a Town performance spend a few minutes on here I think the posters win the prize for being the most negative. Brightened up my day anyway!
