What Downie says makes perfect business sense. Which is a shame because the over regulation of football takes some of the spontaneity away which used to make it enjoyable.

This sounds like an accountants way of looking at things and not 'the real world' Trying to cut costs and not over man the stadium and end up with stewards who don't know what they're doing, have no connection with the club and may have never been to a football match before.. Surely there's a benefit in having a team that work together every week and actually know what they're doing through experience and training? I really don't have a clue what your going on about there?? The real world is about not overmanning the stadium, the real world is cutting cost. and as for ending up with stewards who know nothing, then you need to pay a visit to the real world. I'm talking about the many clubs and security firms who use agency workers with little or no training or experience to save having to have their own stewards who would expect to be paid a la Shrewsbury hence save money ... Sureley you know that having dealings in this area..

What i know is that agency stewards cost the club less overall, and if you think that there is no training you are sorely mistaken.... The advantage is that you can as a club decide how many you book, and whats more the agency stewards are generally far more experienced in Stewarding rather than the club stewards who do maybe 25 games per season, for 4 hours a game.

Oh my god, this forum will be in meltdown when they see the 50% price increase of tickets if they wait till last minute and decide to go on the day for the Palace match.....
