Might be worth backing them for relegation now then...

Might be worth backing them for relegation now then... Why? Was a very capable central midfielder in League 2 for us and given he was played out of position quite a few times in League 1 he certainly proved he wasn't dreadful.

Not sure he was that great for Cheltenham though + loss of Ogogo could mean Daggers struggle?

Not sure how he got on generally throughout the season at Cheltenham but I thought he was their most influential player against us towards the end of the season.

I liked him. Decent player let down by his manager who insisted on playing him out of position, and demonised by sections of the support when he didn't perform in said position.
Scored one of the best goals and best timed goals I've ever seen.
Deserving of a little respect in my opinion.

Cracking attitude as well - a great pro who never moaned and never gave less than his full effort. PotS in our promotion season, too - seems to be overlooked by many.

One of the most embarrassing and cringeworthy moments of recent years was the booing and barracking of Richards when he took the ball off Tom Eaves to take a penalty in front of the south stand. Eaves was on a hat-trick, but Richards was the designated penalty taker so was rightfully his to take. He subsequently missed!

The previous season he started badly with fans on his back but ended the season sweeping the end of year awards. Just goes to show the fickle nature of football And let's not forget that 12 months after the penalty incident, it was the turn of Eaves to endure abuse from his own fans

Such an instrumental figure in our previous promotion to L1. A tremendously consistent performer who really made us tick. The abuse aimed at him during our relegation season sickened me. He deserved more than that.
Never been one for scapegoats. Especially when they wear Blue and Amber.

Richards was not part of our relegation season - although he may still have been abused during it - as we released him after our first season in L1. Kind of player we could have done with in the relegation season, for all the talk about releasing him being a step towards a fresh start.

I automatically associate his 2nd season with us with failure for some reason. I always thought that the captaincy was a burden for Richards. I'd also heard from a few sources that there were some players in the squad who were not happy with this decision and would undermine his leadership when the opportunity arose.

I liked Matt Richards, I still remember sections of the crowd ridiculously booing him when he wouldn't let Tom Eaves take a penalty to complete his hat trick despite the fact there was still a game to be won and that he was the actual penalty taker!

Was a great player for us, and earned himself the captaincy and became a fan favourite, but like any player a few bad performances and he was quickly turned on That goal against Oxford to retain our unbeaten home record in the dying seconds was magical, won't forget that goal for a long time!

The goal against Oxford was a 'proper mental'.

He was great for us 4 seasons ago in Lg2 for sure, but that doesn't really come into my thinking now. I'm surprised he's managed to get another league club and don't think he's suited to being in a struggling side. What's the betting Daggers now romp to the title and make me look a right nugget!! ... Wait n see I suppose

That, and the disgusting actions of Graham Turner when they both looked at him, and all he did was shrug his shoulders rather than endorse his captains correct actions.... As to what happened 4 years ago, where he was really great for us, if he has kept his level of professionalism, fitness and approach, which unless you have followed his career since he left us, then i reckon the Daggers have a decent signing there

I always felt that he gave his all for the Town and was one of our better players Some people have very short memories .

Decent player Matt Richards, closing in on 500 league appearances, the majority of which have been at championship/league 1 level. Good signing for Daggers in my opinion.
Never let us down.

Former player of the season in a promotion season - hardly the calling card of a poor signing.
We've had FAR worse here!
