Would have been even loyaler if he'd signed a contract when offered rather than wait to see what other clubs came in for him. No clubs came in so he became 'loyal'.... Embarrassing post. Not for me. I like Grando but some of the views on here are a bit over the top. He was offered a contract but didn't accept. So we went out and replaced him. Hoped to get another club but couldn't so he now wants to stay.....change of heart or no other options? So why's it embarrassing?

Even if it was the case I don't see the problem. If he was that much of a liability I'm sure we would have bid him adios by now as we wouldn't get any compensation. Clearly the club & MM are happy with him.

Grandison has remained pretty quiet and professional throughout all this. Only the club truly know the true story of what's happened during the Summer but he certainly doesn't deserve criticism based on hearsay. One apparent fact is that MM is very keen to sign him.

I hope he does sign and think he'd hold down a first team position (most of the time) I was merely commenting on the hysteria around his loyalty and the reception some think we should give him which for me will be very welcoming but the same as the rest of the team

He already turned down a contract in 2013 and surprisingly re-signed in the December of that year.

He already turned down a contract in 2013 and surprisingly re-signed in the December of that year. Wasnt there some speculation that his 'release' at that time was beneficial for both parties since he was able to claim financial compensation for his injury through his insurance scheme, only to re-sign when he was fit, probably having had the nod first that doing this might save the club a few quid and get him a better wage? All said and done I hope we have JG with us this season but no sleep lost this end if JLAA goes.

Having followed our close season machinations fairly closely I cannot recall either JLAA or JG being offered or rejecting a contract by STFC. I assumed that JLAA was being released and was pleasantly surprised when his name cropped up on an early season training chart tweeted by Skitty. JG was then spotted in some training vines posted by the club.
I simply cannot remember any animosity towards any of these players for turning us down, looking for more money or hawking their wares around other clubs. I can only remember MM saying that he would like to be in a position to offer them a deal when we could afford to do so.
I'm aware that some folks on the thread are convinced that contracts were offered and rejected to these players and I may well have missed this but surely we must have something on record to clarify this? The Star would have covered this for sure.

Thanks Andy. I heard a shorter version yesterday soon after the match. This extended interview certainly convinces me that the Ginnelly to Burnley deal will complete this week and we will sign both JLAA & JG in time for the Millwall match. Things looking good.

From posts on here, pleasing to hear of positive things about JLAA. From what people have seen, do you see a step up in his performances? Is he becoming consistent with his performances?
I was unsure if league 1 was a step too far, but be great if he's developed as a player in the last twelve months to suggest he can do it in league 1.

JLAA has been used almost all the time as left midfielder and has done but well but maybe not enough to start as Martin Woods did well there on Saturday

The club must be very certain that they can re-sign JLAA and Grandison, and the players and their agents must be too, putting alot of faith in the club that they will be re-signed.

The one shown on twitter had them both in... This is getting daft now... Uncle Ronald being tight? Had a decent rumor come at me that, the reason this has all happened, is our accountant ballsed up when working out the budgets, told the gaffer it was something then changed his mind a couple of weeks later.... by then some deals had already been done....hence this summer long game everyone at the clubs been playing. . lets be honest we all know we will see Woods/Goldson at some point in the next couple of years for a good wedge and then recoup what ever another year for Grando costs? Its pretty backwards thinking is it not? its all a massive game of brinkmanship involving Ginnelly, Grandison, Woods, Goldson, Vernon, Demetriou, Micky Mellon, the chairman, Mat Williams, Burnley and a shed tonne of agents.... Who's going to blink? I think Mellons hand has firmly been forced with whats gone on. I doubt he would have ditched Mangan (see the hug) or Demetriou, if this nonsense was going on... time well tell though

Either it’s the spin for the balls up or they’ve mis-judged what was going to be available in the budget.

Who knows, its only a rumour, but there are as IU put above, a lot of pieces to the jigsaw, that could be solved if the budget was expended a bit knowing we would cover the losses in all likely-hood in Jan or next summer...
be mad if by the Christmas break we are struggling and panicking to bring in more loan players when we could have shored the squad up now?

Can anyone confirm if two photos were taken with them in and not in?
That's a first for STFC surely?

You would think with a week to a go and everything is 50/50 - those two players would be out speaking to clubs to ensure they get a contract somewhere...rather than appearing in our team photo.

That Salop Star article is worrying.
If this was June then yeah whatever, but not 6 days before start of the season!
