Hiya guys,
Tranmere fan here,
Just signed Mangan on a one year deal,
How did he do for you last season? Is he as good a signing for us in the conference as it seems?

Great signing for you, if he can stay fit. I thought he would have done well for us in League 1, so in the Conference he'll be a top player. If he'd stayed fit last season, I reckon he'd have scored 20 goals.
Pretty gutted we haven't kept him!

Just saw this on twitter. Always hoped he would still be our managers plans and a new contract would have been offered.
Great signing if he stays fit. Far too good for that level.

As has been stated before, fitness is the key here. A fully fit Andy Mangan will do well in the conference.
However, I think that MM and co had doubts about his fitness and injury problems, also maybe unsure of the step up to league 1.
Definitely a good asset in League 2 / conference.

Only a one year deal. And to a Conference side.
I'm very surprised we couldn't at least have matched Tranmere's offer.
Fitness and injury concerns methinks.

Great signing for Tranmere at that level, even if he only plays half the games!
Having said that, I can see why MM hasn't signed him up.

If Mangan stays fit for only 50% of the season he will still be an asset for you. As mentioned above a fully fit Mangan is far too good for the Conference, but staying injury free will be the key!

I'm sure there was L2 striker analysis floating about a while ago that made him the most prolific goalscorer per start in L2. He had something like a 0.75 goal ratio for every match he started. Could potentially tear the conf apart.
Seems Tranmere are serious about coming back up at the first time of asking.

All sounds great, its a knee injury he had wasn't it?
We had been promised a signing of intent but was not expecting someone as good as he is

You have a 20 goal plus striker there if he stays fit - if MM was serious about wanting him to stay then this is a bit worrying for our finances.

Has to be his injury record, no way Tranmere could offer more than us surely?

I'd have happily had kept him here for League One but I suppose fitness issues have prevented that. If you keep him fit, he will get a minimum of 20 goals for you, he would have reached that for us if it wasn't for his injury issues. Very surprised he has gone back to non-league.

As others have said he is a decent striker for that level and really surprised another L2 side didn't snap him up. But the key really is fitness, I suspect that is the reason we didn't want to spend a decent wage on someone who may be sitting in the stands for half the season
Good luck to the lad though

Has to be his injury record, no way Tranmere could offer more than us surely? Who knows. I suspect we were only willing to pay a certain amount due to injuries, maybe even performance based. Whereas Tranmere may be willing to gamble more so were happy to offer him a more lucrative contract. On paper it's a coup for them, but if he has taken up quite a bit of their wage budget and is injured alot then in 12 months time their fans may have a different view

Mellons 25 name list of strikers suggests to me that Mangan was never in his plans for next season.
Mangan could have been on the list, but I doubt it would be as long if that were the case?
I much prefer to hear a manager talk of tight budgets and squad shifting than "the money is there for the right player" etc etc...

Very gutted about this however I suspect in a few weeks time it will seem like the right decision.
Surprised he has taken a one year deal in the Conference but obviously he is a Liverpool lad.. Must be on a good whack.
The goal v Chelsea has got to be up there with the best moments since I've been following Shrewsbury Town. Thanks Andy & good luck - hopefully we will see him in the future.

He will probably be one of their top earners whilst we will be paying good money to Lawrence, Collins, Barnett, Wesolowski etc and would not have seen him as someone to throw cash at with his futness a concern and our need to getvmore bslance in the squad. Shame he has left but I brlieve we are in good shape. With regards finances I would imagine that the failureof attendances to pick up meant our projections were some way off and we are seeing that impact now. However with s still reasonably strong squad I expect a trouble free season and many local games will see attendances rise again and put us in a far stronger position next summer to build again.

Good luck Andy. Top bloke. I'd have backed him in League Juan. Great in the dressing room. Our loss I reckon, unless MM has a rabbit up his sleeve from Fleetwood/Barnsley/Blackpool.

Cracking signing. Gutted to see him go as I thought he'd do a job. Decent striker (definitely good enough for the level he's dropping to) and a very nice bloke as well. All the best to him.

Very good signing if manager handles him right. Very rare I am disappointed when a player leaves but I really wanted Andy Mangan to stay with us this season. Will always hold the Club record of first Shrewsbury Town player to score winning goal on top flight ground.

Perhaps we offered him a basic wage with a pay per play bonus? However too late now! Tranmere have got themselves a good character who'll get plenty of goals if given a good squad around him.
