Watched online. TNS played well and thoroughly deserved the victory. Look set for 2nd round of qualifying.

Horrible club, can't really bring myself to wish them well, killed Oswestry Town FC and took WPL football away from the people of Llansantffraid.

If I found myself in Milton Keynes on a Saturday at 3pm I wouldn't pay to watch them.
Same applies to TNS.

You missed the worst crime of all, they play on a plastic pitch So do Newtown & Ludlow Town ? And nearly half the other teams in the WPL. Its to avoid fixtures being postponed, and they can also provide income by hiring the pitches out.

Hate to disagree but the people of Llansantffraid did not have a WPL club. The team from that village only got into the WPL after they became TNS. Additionally Oswestry Town where not "killed off" by TNS, they had already committed suicide.......twice ...and where not an active football club when TNS took over the Park Hall facility and upgraded it. If anything TNS have brought regular WPL football to Oswestry plus European football every season. I quite like 'em

Yep - £10, all seater match, around 1100 seated capacity. I bought tickets Monday and was told it looks like it's going to be a sell out.

I see a new Oswestry Town club has been formed and good to see a reformed club playing in Llansantffraid, I've got no time for that club or Mike Harris I'm afraid, the club is just one man's plaything and whilst they are currently the most successful club in Wales (Ha!) they don't have the history or fan base of 'proper clubs' like Newtown, Bangor, Rhyl and Aberystwyth.

Rather sit in a vat of battery acid listening to Richard Littlejohns and Nige Farrages views on "THEM" them then watch TNS - still get the urge to punch the air when I think of Bangor beating them a few years back to lift the title. They packed out Farrah Rd and TNS barely brought 50.
Can't wait for the money to dry up.

Llansantffraid, indeed and that stand looks out of place in the league they are in now!
Didn't the Chelsea friendly pay for that?

How many clubs in the WPL have full time professionals playing for them? TNS might be too good for their league by virtue that these guys dont have to go out and work a twelve shift and play football too. TNS is a rich guys plaything. How else is a club run when their attendances at Park Hall are so low? Does anyone have any idea what sort of money these League of Wales earn?

The new Oswestry Town also play at the Venue, and are closely linked with TNS, Harris own the rights to the name and the badge so it's his baby so to speak. But you're correct, not a lot of people in the town have a lot to do with The New Saints they are very much as plastic as their pitch.

Think Bangor might be pro?
Gotta remember the 'Venue' must bring in some cash too?

Around £500,000 each year for their Champions League qualification etc, which covers wages etc. They're the only full time pro team in the league, so winning the title and Champions League qual each year seems a formality. 3G pitch which is in almost constant use, with associated revenue stream. Welsh FA funding. The Venue strapped to the ground bringing in extra £££s. Seems to have longevity in it as long as the Welsh Premier League keeps going and there are Champions League places up for grabs.

Could TNS survive playing in League 2 or the Conference? Would they want to?

Nothing on that link weren't Barry a rich mans play thing that went bust ? Cant say i share the feelings about TNS that some seem to have, but I don't think I will be going there either

Can't argue with the "Rich Mans plaything" comments, as long as Mike Harris is in control they will remain so. But the comments about the earning power of being in Europe was an eye opener and certainly makes understanding why they have decided to resolutely remain as the only full time team in the WPL, rather than transfer to the English Pyramid System, despite their gates being akin to a NPL Division 1 team. Thing is there are plenty of clubs within the English system who are similarly a Rich Mans Plaything....most of the PL for a start as well as the likes of MK Dons, Fleetwood, Bury and Crawley etc etc. Whereas there are a fair few "proper Football League clubs" stuck in the Conference and doing their best to operate correctly. Best example that I can recall for when it all went wrong would be Gretna...all the way to the SPL, Scottish Cup Finalists, benafactor dies and his family immeadiately pulled the plug because their inherited wealth was draining away. Where are they now ?, Scottish Lowland League, Gretna 2008, fan owned and basically back where they started, and happy about it.

But you're correct, not a lot of people in the town have a lot to do with The New Saints they are very much as plastic as their pitch. There's a lot going against TNS and poor support has little to do with how plastic they are in my opinion. If it was a great match day experience, the crowds would be bigger regardless of the background of the club. But it's not a great match day experience. There's no atmosphere, the results are predictable and it's out of town. The atmosphere at Ellesmere Rangers is better. TNS are working hard with the community and trying to build attendances, but it's no good getting someone through the gate just once, you need to get them to go back again and then to tell their mates too. But maybe an 1100 crowd champions league game will do it and turn things around. But as we saw with Chelsea last season, you can sell out with a big match, but getting those 'new' fans back through the turnstiles isn't easy, even when looking good to win the league all year.

I went to TNS once at the New Park Hall. Recall was an evening kick off as was on TV in Wales, game was dire and the pitch did not help. Having a drink in the Venue pre kick off and was full of screaming kids playing pool etc, might even of been bowling. www.footballgroundguide.com/wales/the-new-saints/The WPL teams in the South seem to have a bit more 'passion'. Seen Cefn Druids once vs Port Talbot, Talbot fans were pretty good seeing as travelled all that way. Went to Welsh Premier Cup semi as well at Newtown, enjoyed that actually alot!

can't stand them - only went once to Llansantffraid when McKenna was manager.
He was an ignorant foul mouthed individual using industrial strength language on the touchline - with women and young children within earshot.
When I challennged this with an Steward, was told it was his normal language.
Never went again!!
