Just seen it on Facebook too... No indication of where he is going.
Under appreciated at Salop but not a bad player at all. Best of luck to him!
Not meaning to knock him but this is a good sign for us that the new striker could be along soon!

Couldn't we have let another club sign him on a free transfer/take over his contract? I'm sure a few League 2 teams would have obliged.
With Tootle and Ogogo both capable of playing at RB, he wasn't needed.
Personally, I've never rated him. Very average player and doesn't offer a lot going forward or defensively.
Wish him the best in the future anyway.

Good luck to Cameron - an unfortunate but necessary casualty in order to trim the wage bill. Whilst not the most exciting player, he didn't do much wrong and should have no problem getting fixed up in League Two again.

I'm disappointed, I thought we saw an advance in him after Grimmer left last year.
Good Luck Cameron.

I didn't want MM to tweak the squad this summer, I wanted him to be ruthless and this transaction is certainly an example of that. Gayle showed some much needed improvements to his game towards the end of the season but would not have stepped up to L1 IMO. A signing I was not convinced about last season but he played his part in our promotion and good luck to him in the future.

Good luck to Cameron and thank you for your efforts. He did improve last season and has a promotion on his CV now. Hopefully he should get fixed up with a league club.

Was a mistake giving him a 2 yr contract when I'm Sure he would have taken a 1yr deal he didn't exactly have many offers as it was very late on he signed. a nice pay off for the lad probably around 25-30k. All clubs can be ruthless it just is costly to be so!

Also any payoff comes off the capped wage budget, so I wonder in reality how much coming to agreements with players actually leaves us, I think 2/3 more will have to leave before there is room for one more incoming.

Vernon is the one I'd like off the books. Halstead, Caton and Demetriou are other possibilities.

Ruthless is indeed the word. Gayle was by no means the best player in the squad, but he was no liability, and he was young and athletic enough to improve.
I'm confident we've signed better players in the short term, but good luck to him and I've no doubt he'll make a decent signing for someone in League 2.

Thanks for last season, and I wish him all the best wherever he ends up. One of the most improved players over last season. Who knows how well he would have done next season, I certainly wouldn't write off his chances of playing successfully in league 1.

Even with a promotion under his belt I don't think he'll be inundated with offers but of course I thank him for playing a small part in last season's promotion & wish him all the best.

Obviously forgetting that he played 21 games for us in League One. His first loan spell coincided with us clawing our way out of the relegation zone in season 2012-13.

Disappointed at this, thought he was a very underrated member of the squad and had what it takes to be a member of our team in League One. We kept a clean sheet roughly in 1 game in every 2 last season. Gayle has played his part in that.
However if this means either Grandison or Mangan are staying them I'll tolerate this decision, would have thought there'd be atleast another 3 or 4 in the queue to be paid off before him after Vincent left. Perhaps he was on a higher wage than what we all think. Who knows?
Good luck Cameron.

Ditto views above, pure 110% guy.
Unless MM is going via the back line of Mickey Ellis NKP Grando?
Maybe one of the sticking points of Grando contract was when would he play when NKP is back? Maybe right back?

I was openly crictical of Gayle on here last season but on refelection what was I critical for? Its because I felt he offered us very little going forward and his quality into the oppositions box was poor. However lets remember he's a full back and not a natural wing back and defensively can I recall any standout moments where he let us down and was at error for a concended goal? No, but I can quite easily recalls errors with Demetriou. However Demetriou blossomed going forward. So I guess its what you want in the player and MM obviously seeks an attacting strength in his full/wing backs.

Feel for Gayle, thought he served us well last year. Difficult start to the season but really emerged as a decent option in the second half of the season. Still only 22, so plenty of time to improve as a player, and he's a good athlete with a good attitude.
Don't see why he would have struggled at L1 when he already had a good spell at that level with us in his first loan - much like last season, he a while to really grow into the team but did so well and for the last two/three months (the televised Tranmere game was a turning point, I seem to recall) was very solid. We were all happy when we re-signed him the next season, but that was a bizarre one as he played one or two games before returning to WBA.
Slightly surprised that we let him go as I doubt he was on big wages and I thought there were doubts on Tootle's fitness. Still, if it means we can get a top striker in then I do see the logic. As for those questioning if this helps us with our budget - it does. Firstly, we'll pay less than the value of his contract as it's a mutual decision, and secondly it reduces the wages we're paying and gives us more flexibility with this 55% rule that seems to apply to some of us at this level, but not Bury. It's a bit like we released Gayle and the spent, say, 20k as a transfer fee on our next signing (assuming they're free).
Anyway, best of luck to the lad and thanks for your efforts last season Cam. Most of us appreciated them.
