JLAA, met him after the game on the pitch against Cheltenham, got a picture nice guy.
100% player, not the best finisher however a menace.
Mangan for that beauty against Dag & Red, decent away game that! Buzzing on the London tube after!
Grant for the game against Portsmouth, excellent away day again.
All three have left their marks on the club, not bad given all only here for a season?
Good luck lads.

It's a shame to see all three leave.
Martin Woods is a direct replacement for Grant and Mellon must think he is a better player.
I'm a little disappointed to see Mangan go, he's a player that can make things happen and gives something completely different to our other strikers. He did only make 10 starts last year and I wonder if that was held against him.
JLAA is a real grafter but it's probably the right decision to let him go. I'm sure a decent League 2 team will snap him up quickly.

Yes, I'd imagine that it was a combination of wages demands and fitness concerns that resulted in us letting Mangan go.
Plus I always considered that he was far more effective when coming off the bench. The times he actually started games I felt he wasn't as impressive.
JLAA was a 100% trier and ran his heart out for the cause of the team. But alas his goal record of 0.16 a game did go against him. His one against one's against goalkeepers were the stuff of nightmares!
Grant was a player who blew hot and cold. When he was good he was excellent, but when he was bad he was horrid. Inconsistent.

No mention of Grando though, with the rumors of Gayle being off can we still hold out hope he resigns?

Fair play to the Star, they are getting some 'scoops' in.
Whats changed there?

They were all pivotal at one stage or another in securing us promotion. I wish them all the very best for the future, I'm sure that they will all be fixed up with new clubs without any difficulty.

Watched the interview that the Shropshire Star is taking the quotes from. Didn't get the impression that the door was completely closed. These players are now out of contract and free to speak to other clubs.
As far as I could tell the position was the same as before. Bodies must go out before more offers are made.
Interesting that his description of the striker he is looking for fits Mangan perfectly. Only sttumbling block could be fitness or lack of it. MM knows that if he's looking for a player to get him goals in L1 that player won't be cheap.
It's a very fluid situation at present. Just hope he gets the movement out he needs to bring in his targets.

Very sorry to see that while looking for a "fox-in-the-box", we are letting Mangan go.
That was what he did... everywhere he played.
Whoever we replace him with, on the budget we have, will not be as good.
Really looking forward to seeing a league 2 or conference striker coming in with a 1 goal in 5 match ratio, (1 in 8, last season)...while we are told that he is going to turn his career round and be a great success with us in league 1.
No he won't... he'll end up on the bench by November as we get a succession of loanees... and Mangan (if he is fit) will get 18 plus for another side.
Great!
Anyway... well done Andy, Bobby and Jean-Louis. Thanks for the enjoyment and goals and helping us to promotion... plus your obvious enthusiasm for playing for Shrewsbury Town. I hope you all do brilliantly next season.

Does anybody have firm evidence that we offered Mangan, JLAA and Grandison contracts at all for 15/16? And by that I mean a Shrewsweb story or an interview with Mellon/Williams in the Star etc where that has been stated.
I am sure it must exist as I have seen a lot of comments on here by folk suggesting that wages are a sticking point or a player has had months to weigh up the offer but I don't recall seeing a credible story confirming it.
Can anyone provide a link please just to put my mind at rest that we at least tried to retain them?
And I don't count the "shropshirelive" website as credible.
Thanks

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33289972BBC were quoting all of them were offered contracts... Who knows on what terms though... I suspect Grando might be different and have a clause for so much upon promotion or something hence hes out of the "being let go" players at the moment. That and maybe hes the one that Micky wants to keep

Is it just me but all the sloppy star article is really saying is he isn't signing Bobby Grant! (Really nice lad but a bit hot and cold for me)
As for the rest, yes there contracts are up today so they can sign for another club! That doesn't mean they won't sign with us..
I'll read it again...

All I read from that was that Bobby Grant isn't returning which in my opinion is no great shame as he was very inconsistent - cracking bloke and player on his day which in all honesty was too rare.
I expect to see Mangan re-sign but suspect Akpa Akpro will pick up a two year contract elsewhere - maybe even abroad.
Who really knows re. Grandison but again certainly wouldn't rule him out of being in the starting XI v Millwall.
All four should be respected and welcomed back in the future - top pros who played a big part in a fantastic season last year.

Just been watching MM's latest interview on Shrewsplayer. Perhaps we shouldn't say farewell to Mangan or Grandison just yet after all.

I do wonder if reason Gayle was released was because Grando. I think the same. My numbers are purely a guess but I reckon Gayle's £800 a week might just be added on to Grandison's new contract.

I think the STFC protocol is you're supposed to subscribe to find out (!) but in a nutshell although he said they were out of contract, he didn't rule them out re-signing. It looks like a lot hinges on whether they can offload others.

JLAA doing pre-season with us according to MM it's cos he lives locally. Interesting that the others aren't, but perhaps it's cos of where they are based. I wonder if Grando is back at Cov, putting himself in the shop window? I can't imagine too many players would rather try to do pre-season alone, training-wise it must be hard to get the variety and ball-work.

I can't imagine too many players would rather try to do pre-season alone, training-wise it must be hard to get the variety and ball-work. The training goals clip on YouTube I think shows JLAA chesting the ball down for the last goal (last few seconds on the video) so that would make sense. Would also agree the out of contract players should do preseason with us and can be instilled as 'trialists' as I believe there's a chance two or three will re-sign. They then aren't catching up - both with fitness and team meetings etc.

Don't think it will do JLAA or STFC no harm at all to have him with us. Allows MM to weigh him up against his other L1 rated strikers we have at the club. Would be pretty pleased with we could resign JLAA as I like what he brings. We had 6 striking options last year in L1. If we count Collins, Barnett and Vernon then we are at least 2 short. Can't see MM wanting to start the season with so few options in attack. I'd expect his 'Fox in the box' plus one.

Anyone else see JLAA as an option for a winger? He played on the left wing/left of three at the start of the season and played quite well there.

Anyone else see JLAA as an option for a winger? Nope!
He did a job out there for a few games but I don't see that as an option.
Don't get me wrong, I like him and he did pretty well for us last season but unfortunately not good enough for League 1 I'm afraid.
Should have no problems in finding a decent L2 club.
