What an emphatic display in three out of the four tests - fantastic victory. Fantastic result, and only 62 balls to finish Aussies off today..... How much have spectators paid to go today?

Strange series - emphatic victories & such short games. Very happy with the outcome though.

My ticket was £85 but I will get a 50 per cent refund. I will also get the money back for the other tickets I had too. But I couldn't really care how much I had paid - being there to see us regain the ashes was special.

Fantastic result for a young up and coming England team. Big test in the winter coming up against Pakistan in the UAE and then South Africa. If we are to top the world again then positive results from those two series should help.
Couldn't understand why Cook was praising Peter Moores in one interview. The best thing he did was leave because since he went we have gone on strength to strength just as we did last time Moores left in 2009.

It does seem that we are p•SS poor when Moores is at the helm but decent when he is not.

Better day for England thus far. However it's the end of the line for Lyth for now. Hales has recently been opening for Notts and is currently 186 not out against one of the best attacks in the county game.
Johnson just bowled an over of no ball bouncers to Root. What a shambles. The technology needs to call no balls in the same way you have a net call in tennis imo

Better day for England thus far. Or not..... But, lets not forget that the real work has already been done in winning back the urn.

Yeah I'd like to win but this doesn't matter too much. Few silly shots (bairstow and lyth), and some really good bowling (root, cook and bell) have done for us. Hales and Ballance will be in the squad for Pakistan me thinks.

To be fair, I think 3-2 is a more accurate reflection of these two teams compared to 4-1.
One of the few correct things Shane Warne - who is very chirpy today despite Australia having lost the Ashes - has said today is that this series shows that both sides depend too much on too few.

Very true. We've won the ashes with lyth and butler having not made a score between them. Cook and bell have 3 50's between them and Ballance/bairstow got 3 50's in 9 innings.
Boycott on good form here with Aggers. Absolutely fuming with bairstow, stokes and lyth. "If I was the chairman of England cricket I'd be going into the coaches and players and telling them to sort it or I will!"
Ballance 98 not out as Yorkshire move one step closer to the title...

It looks like the Ballance decision may be vindicated - they said he needed to go and score runs for Yorkshire and he has done. All in all English cricket has come on massively since we were Down Under - no need for people to panic based on the last two days.

Repeat of the Lord's test?
Scoreboard pressure/facing a big innings score by the opposition?
Last chance saloon for Adam Lyth second time around...

So it is looking like it will be a close 3-2 series, but one where none of the tests have actually been close because the losing team has capitulated so completely. Strange.

I like to think we've switched off a bit having won the series. Messers lyth and butler can ill afford to switch off but the rest of the team seemed to have taken that option.

Well batted chef. The rest, well that was s****. Hopefully Jos gets a few ready for the ODI's/T20's. Test squad for UAE will be 10 of this 11, Hales for Lyth, Anderson, Plunkett and Rashid I reckon. Maybe Woakes if they pick 16.
Let's hope they get a similar storm to the one we just had!!

I see a lot of people moaning that bt's coverage won't be a patch on sky. Unless I've totally missed it, BT have simply bought the rights to all Australian domestic cricket and also their home internationals. This will mean that we'll get channel 9's coverage which is excellent! This also allows the ECB to be in a really strong position when the rights come up for English domestic and home international cricket for the 2019 season and ahead.
It also means we're going to have the new Franchised t20 tournament by 2019 too.

All very well this increased competition which the free market would have you believe brings prices down. It's good for the sport but not for the customers.

BT going after the rights for Pakistan in October now! Interesting times ahead... In terms of finance and buying power BT could, and appears to be trying to, blow Sky out of the equation on Sports coverage - they certainly seem to view it sport as the best way to sell their broadband packages

Twenty20 today. England on top, Morgan smashing a score despite his abysmal Middlesex form and a good knock from Moeen as well.

Fair play to Gus Fraser. Put England ahead of Middlesex and made a brave call. Good win that against a slightly under strength Australia.
