That's a possibility I had not considered. One of the strikers perhaps? Collins, Barnett and Vernon still under contract. Vernon would be the obvious; though I agree with some others on here thinking he will have more joy in league 1. Who knows! I think a fully fit Barnett could be a real asset in L1, but seeing as he's not been a regular starter I do wonder if Oxford might try a cheeky bid, they matched our offer back in Jan. That sort of move would've made the Dagnall deal feasible.

Been there, suffered it. For me 8 months and that was similar professional support/raining/physio. Supposedly it is meant to be stronger but only if you sustain the extra training regime required to maintain supporting muscles.

I think pretty much everyone hopes we do sign Mangan and Grandison, unfortunately having just listened to MM 38 minute interview on Shrewsplayer that is looking extremely unlikely atm unless we sold a player.
It's also beginning to look very much like Grandison mightl be on his way to either Birmingham or Coventry, and for whatever reason I don't see JLAA re-signing.
One other thing, who was it that interviewed Micky Mellon because he was excellent and much better than Bond or dare I say it Whitters?
Anyway a very good interview from MM.

I believe it was our new Shropshire Star correspondent Tim Nash.

I've just been told by a Coventry season ticket holder that they believe that Grando is about to sign for them. That would not surprise me as it is his home city. An association which was mentioned on here a couple of times at the end of the season. IMO Grandison would rather stay here but it sounds as if we are not offering much to keep the out of contract players. Mind you Coventry are still very much cash strapped themselves so I would hope we could compete successfully with them in the transfer market at the moment. I'd be surprised if Grandison isn't fixed up in L1 before the season starts and I truly hope its with us.

Yes. Wages or contract length seems to be the problem with Mangan. It's been said on here that Forest Green were paying half his wages last year in order to get him off their books.
If Rowett wants Grandison at Birmingham then we've no chance of keeping him.
JLAA and Grant may find other Clubs too.

Assuming the worst happens and none of them sign but we sign a RB and a left winger (as per what MM has said are his priorities), are Barnett, Collins, Vernon and Anderson enough to start the season as our forward options? I'd say we are one light there.

Offloading Halstead would seem logical. Gets him off the wage bill and would be reasonably cheap to pay off.
Burton could then sit on the bench, and if any long term injury is suffered by Leutwiler then there always seem to be reasonable loan 'keepers available (Daniels, Button, Gilks, Phillips).

I mentioned this on another thread:-
What does confuse me is that I thought if a player has been offered a contract he has until the end of June, and MM is saying we cannot afford them all, and say they all accept their contracts next week?
Can we therefore assume they were not offered a contract but just advised, the club would like to keep them but due to finances there was no Guarantee. That strategy would have freed the purse strings and allowed the club with pushing ahead with new signings?

Yes, there may have been discussions such as " we could offer you this if you wanted to stay " but no formal contract offers made, thus avoiding the waiting games of 3 years ago with Collins, Neal, Sharps etc. Not a bad move if true.

This summer a lot more clubs seem to be negotiating rather than putting a contract on the table. It avoids committing to 3 or 4 players who then turn down deals a month later and the best replacements are gone. Clubs are only offering a pre- negotiated contract which a player is likely to sign.
On player sales MW and MM were pretty canny with Jon Taylor so I'm sure there will be developments.

Hopefully someone who knows about these things or has heard something will clarify the usual recovery time... I just feel if they wernt well on the way to recovery the club wouldnt want them to take on such a feat when they were 6 months away from full fitness I've no idea on such injuries but I do know that cycling is a very gentle exercise - depending on what the injury is like then cycling could well be a way of keeping other muscles in trim without doing any further damage to the injury. Don't know, it's only a thought about why they were cycling a long distance when they were still months away from being fit to play football.
Encouraging news regarding NKP and James Wesolowski - expected to be fit for the start of pre-season. www.shropshirestar.com/sport/shrewsbury-town-fc/2015/06/15/shrewsbury-receive-double-injury-boost/

I think its fairly clear that Grandison is off. With todays signing in place there isnt any room left in the team for the guy. Captain material doesnt come cheap and Tootle is on a two year deal so by the time MM recruits a left winger Rolands' wallet will be well and truly squeezed!!

I'll be surprised if we don't lose at least one of our contracted players.... Got a sneaky suspicion Demetriou may be on his way... But that's based on not much tbh! Ooosh!! Called it!! ;p Had to get something right sometime I suppose!!

As suspected by many on here! Personally, I'm in a minority though, I think Vernon still had something to offer this season, a different player to the robust approach of JC and TB.

I'm with you on Vernon. I think given some playing time he could have a decent season and give us options up front. As evidenced last season JC & TB were not an effective partnership which is why MM paired them off with JLAA and Andy Mangan and substituted them as a unit.
