A Derby supporting mate of mine isn't to unhappy about it.
Reckons he inherited a good up and coming team from Nigel Clough and has basically made a meal of it.

In my opinion, he had to go.

He'll regret turning down Newcastle then!

In my opinion, he had to go. Why ? He made a pretty decent go of it in an extremely competitive league. Weren't Derby in contention all the way through the season only falling away right at the end ? any 3 out of the top 10 could have been considered seriously as promotion candidates. On the face of it that looks a p**s poor decision- unless of course there was more to his removal than mere results.

Not surprised. He was never going to succeed with Simpson as coach. Derby must be the only place in the world where PS could initially be revered. Perhaps they now realise that he was not all that they cracked him up to be.

Next Blackpool manager? McClaren and Simpson deserve to be part of the circus at Bloomfield Road!

The I newspaper is reporting it as a mutual decision, makes me think that he may still be bound for Geordieland

Couple of Derby season ticket holders at our place. They were looking very good for automatic promotion, made great loan signings then rumours about McLaren leaving for the Toon kept surfacing and team morale dropped / dressing room lost. They squandered a strong position and even missed the play-offs. No surprise he`s gone.

Twice the media have jumped the gun and got it wrong this season, as happened with Pearson and Leicester!
Journalists in that neck of the woods to eager for a headline story maybe?

when it happens next week i woundnt say that , He has done a good job with basically Cloughs core squad but when the Newcastle interest came he should have killed it there and then , but he didnt dismiss it out of hand and commit himself to the rams . His lack of changing things when the injurys struck didnt help either. Now Sam Rush and the board didnt help themselves by insisting at the time he dismiss the Newcastle thing out of hand , but in there defence we were in a good position and any ultimation could have backfired but hindsights a wonderful thing . Back to the here and now Mclaren only dismissed the Newcastle thing when the season ended the damage done and only then because the toon wanted him with the three games left and theres no way he was going to go there when they might go down under him. With Mel Morris looking to become the new chairman he holds Mclaren responsible for the end of season collapse and i dont blame him, the only thing now is that Mclaren wants compensation and Newcastle will get there man for free so there both happy parties. Mclarens should man up resign and go to Newcastle, it all smells like the engineered sacking that the wee dwarf Davies insigated.. So time to move on be with Clement, Warbutton, Dyche, Hasselbank .........

Is Jimmyfloyd at dirty Leeds yet, or is he a Derby poss? Leeds have already appointed Rosler as manager. Derby is only down the road from Burton though. Sheffield United obviously another possibility. I'm fascinated as to who takes the Blackpool job. Whoever it is needs to negotiate a good contract, as they are unlikely to be staying long.
