ok so i love the tradition of seeing fans run onto the pitch at the end but when they announced that if you could now leave the pitch to allow your players to appear it was such a shame to see this almost happen but an about turn led by exkeeper meant those that stayed in their seats saw f all apart from james collins who briefly visited the goal mouth

No I didn't because Cheltenham had just been relegated and I could remember how I felt when we went out of the league. For me, the big celebration is on Saturday at home. Don't blame in any way those that did though. This was just my personal feeling.

I thought it was a fairly good mannered affair to be honest given what was on the line for both sides.
The pitch invasion was inevitable, especially from the side stand where there the only thing separating the stand from the pitch was a three inch high grass verge.
I was conscious of not overstaying my welcome, mainly because we had a mad dash back to the train station but also because as ssshrew says we know what it's like to be in Cheltenham's shoes. There will no doubt be a pitch invasion against Plymouth and potentially a title winning parade to follow, I didn't mind waiting another week before toasting the season.
What was remarkable to me was how unbothered the Cheltenham fans seemed at their side going down. Maybe they felt as we did this time last year and resigned to their fate after a fairly shambolic season but I expected more fight and certainly a better home atmosphere for a side fighting for their futures. Even walking out of the ground with them they seemed fairly blazee about the whole thing.

Yes I did and no you couldn't hear the tannoy. If the club or relevant authority can find a season ticket registered to frankwellshrews (not my real name believe it or not) and really feel it necessary to issue a banning order to a lifelong fan and season ticket holder with no history of football trouble (or in fact any crime at all) then that's what they'll have to do I guess.
Doubt they're bothered though. They seemed to have a more relaxed attitude to the whole thing than some of our resident killjoys.

thing is, you were the killjoy all those in the stand wanted was for the players to approach so they could share some congratulations
you obviously didn't hear fans chanting off, off, off and booing
ps didn't bother me either way, and i would have been on the pitch had i been bothered so don't shoot the messenger

No I didn't in respect of the Cheltenham fans BUT in fairness Shrewsbury fans wee allowed on the pitch, at the end fathers were standing with their kids next to stewards and allowed them on, no invasion necessary........ The strange thing was although they asked our fans toleave the stewards behind the goal refused to take their hand off the bolt that opened the gate to allow them off so elderly fans had to climb over.... a bit of a jobsworth moment... I HAVE TO HOLD THE BOLT SO NO ONE CAN OPEN THE GATE! even though it was to get fans off the pitch

I wasn't originally planning to run onto the pitch out of respect to Cheltenham, but when I saw Demetriou celebrating with supporters near the touchline I couldn't help myself! It was mostly a good natured invasion thankfully and no one who ran onto the pitch wanted to rub it in to the Cheltenham fans, they just wanted to celebrate promotion with the players.

I saw Cheltenham fans walking away from the ground after the game enjoying ice creams without a care in the world! And some Cheltenham supporters applauded our coaches as we left, felt a lot different to the scenes we saw outside Gay Meadow the night we got relegated to the Conference.

Did I go on the pitch....... Hmmm not sure can't remember! But seems someone was impersonating me on the field of play according to some sky sports news footage that has come to light.
Have to agree the Cheltenham fans were slightly chilled considering the drop. But apparently there were some scenes outside the players entrance after the game.

I assumed that with the large police presence there would be no chance of a pitch invasion, even more understandable considering they were facing relegation. But when I saw Shrewsbury fans making their way to the front near the end and no lines of police/stewards appearing then I realised it wasnt going to be a problem.
If it were roles reversed I wouldnt be happy and there were one or two behind the dugouts who werent but generally they seemed to accept relegation pretty easily.

Looking at Cheltenham's record, out of their current 40 points 14 came from the first seven matches.
It would not be surprising if the fans of a team that's taken 26 points from the last 38 matches were fairly resigned to relegation.

Must admit I was a bit disappointed that we didn't clear the pitch so we could all enjoy the team coming out again.

I did wander onto the pitch eventually. It was clear that it was just a good natured celebration, with no gloating or provoking Cheltenham fans. Like others, I wish the pitch had cleared so the fans in the stands could share the moment with the players and staff.
Even on the pitch it was hard to see more than a handful of players. In fact one of my abiding memories will be just how bad that pitch was - like a poorly maintained park pitch. It would have helped if we did some training for that game on a beach.
Cheltenham fans deserve credit though. I can only imagine how it feels to watch away supporters celebrating on your pitch when your team's just dropped out of the league. Horrible combination and I'm grateful they were so good natured. I wish them well next season and hope they get back quickly.

I was on (i posted pictures of it on Twitter so no point in pretending otherwise) but then returned to the side of the pitch to let the players come back out. However I did that loads more were coming on making the whole return to the stands thing pretty pointless so I went back.
Very memorable and i'm glad i did for various reasons. Managed to speak to a couple of the lad (Micky D, Ellis) and high fived Big John AA and told him (he was STFC History Now!). Also spoke to Micky D about the shirts they had on and expressed how much that ment to the friends of Colin who were there, and we both got a bit teary!
