Let's use B & A as a test case. If it seems we can reach a consensus on here, let's roll this out across Facebook and Twitter and try to get the views of as many Salop fans as possible. If the majority are against it I'll happily get back in my box but if, as I suspect, a majority see it as a sensible solution let's actually try to make this happen.

if i remember right, last time we went to cheltenham it was in very similar circumstances where we packed the away end and were looking to secure automatic promotion
we all sat in our seats and with the mixture of fans it resulted in more singing than normal i think i even joined in which is rare

A large group of singers congregated at the back and stood all game.

I like the idea and I'm fortunate enough to have seats in row G in Block 2 but how many of the 1700 potential fans who will be attending on Saturday post or even read this forum?

It's a no from me, my partner has a condition which makes it difficult/painful for her to stand for long periods. The fact that we want to watch the match sitting down doesn't make us any lesser supporters. I would have no problems swapping seats, if others wanted to stand in front of us but can foresee arguments breaking out.

The problem is your talking to probably less than 10% of the fans that will travel and of them the majority are younger fans that spend their life on social media.. So if you get a positive vote are you going to approach Cheltenham with your plan and ask them if their stewards will advise those that arrive what the plan is, or are you going to make a decision and then argue with people in the wrong seats through ignorance?
The only plan that may work is for anyone who wants to stand at the back to get in when the ground opens but this will mean missing out on valuable drinking time.
So it's a no from me, although hope they allow fans to sit where they like but this is unlikely with all the advertising your doing on here

Well I'm sitting in Row H so better not stand in front of me The problem is when I or others like me arrive with 5 mins to spare ( because I have reserved seats with friends so don't need to arrive early to sit together) whose going to find me 5 seats together ?

The results on this poll so far go to show just why I prefer going to away games with just the hardcore 400 or so there!

Astounded by the results of this poll so far - the question really should read - "Would you like to see a small amount of common sense in action on Saturday?"

Astounded by the results of this poll so far - the question really should read - "Would you like to see a small amount of common sense in action on Saturday?" Must admit I'm also fairly mystified. Sadly it seems that little will be done and Saturday will be filled with the usual drab atmosphere punctuated by petty squabbles on what should be one of the best days of the season. Furthermore, Saturday will be a tough game. Both sides have a lot to play for so we need to back the lads to the hilt the minute the whistle blows. Can't help but feel that without an element of common sense being applied this won't happen.

Makes no sense.

Makes no sense. Quite the reverse. Read one of my earlier posts and I'm very much against allocated seating generally.
However, I'd far rather there was some mechanism in place to allocate the 'standers' rows at the back and leave the rest of us to select our seats on a 1st come 1st served basis. A standing area would be even better, but that doesn't seem to be likely to happen.

But I'm arguing for the implementation of a de facto standing area and you've voted against it. What you're effectively saying is "I'm expecting there to be an issue but don't want to take any action to mitigate it."

When I was buying tickets last week, I was told at the ticket office that Cheltenham stewards are strict about their reserved seating.
It does seem sensible to have standers at the back and sitters at the front and sides, although these threads have shown some of the practical difficulties likely to arise. If everyone shows tolerance, unselfishness and common sense there'll be no problems but I suspect that might be asking a lot of 1,400 people.

It's unallocated seating according to other teams fans so it will be first come first served. personally I'll get in earlyish and head for the back anyone has an issue I'll offer to swap tickets, move along or it's tough.

another possible solution is singer's to the left, people that want to sit on the right.

it was a few Portsmouth fans i don't know how many they took, few Cheltenham fans also said the don't enforce allocated seating. IF it has to be allocated seating why can't fans choose there seat?
We could end up with a very reasonable fan being made to sit at the back and they are unable to stand resulting in other fans having to sit down and not enjoying the match.

I can foresee an evening of petty squabbles.

I suggest we all calm down about it and hope that common sense prevails on Saturday both amongst ourselves and the stewards. It's a big day for both teams, Cheletenham will probably have their biggest away crowd of the season, let's hope it all goes well.
Someone earlier quoted Crewe. That really was the worst of both worlds. If you got there early, they made you sit in your seats. If you got there later but not even late, you sat anywhere - it really was bizarre. Tranmere this season was even worse - allocated seats you MUST sit in them then the chaos of finding your seat because most of the numbers had come off!!! Sometimes you just want to give up!
Preston and Bury have it right - tickets with unallocated seating printed on them. It really isn't rocket science. If their license depends on allocated seating and fans don't do it anyway, what's the point?
