Successive 2-1 defeats ain't great but isn't a collapse. Back luck with injuries hasn't helped and i think many of us got a wee bit ahead of ourselves in terms of sewing up promotion well before the end of the season. It's going to be close, but most promotions are.
The positives are that others are slipping too, we do have good players coming back and a win on Tuesday an we are top of the league again! The negatives - I think the injuries have led MM into some wrong tactical choices. Vernon doesn't do it for me and i'd drop him and any idea of a diamond formation. Stop going long ball and really place the emphasis on the opening 20 mins - we're starting slowing and giving teams confidence too easily. I'd hate to see MM panic, nothing radical is needed, just use the tactics that have served us well up to now. I've not seen Southern play yet, but if he's not playing well forget him, March isn't the time to let players bed in, especially in such a key position. I'd also be looking to bring in a right wing-back on loan, we'd look more balanced and it would help us pin teams back.
What do others think?

Dust ourselves down, start again on Tuesday. It's as you were at the top, if we win we're top again..

Feels more like backwards and downwards. But must remain positive, all could change Tuesday!!!

A defeat today could be a blessing in disguise. Maybe, it'll kick us up the backside that we can't just keep relying on our home form to keep us in the promotion places. It's time to knuckle down, see it through and get the job done.
Mickey will keep a lid on any negativity and lack of confidence I'm sure. We've done great so far and this is what he'll be telling them prior to Accrington. I am expecting them to come out full guns blazing and be in top spot again come Tuesday night

MM sounded fairly calm on the radio, interesting dodge on the 'how did Keith Southern do?' question though!

Do feel a bit for Southern. From his past career it appears he is a decent player, but has had very little game time and clearly wouldn't get in our side if other midfielders were fit
Needs games under his belt but we haven't really got the luxury of giving him game time just to get fit.
Thought we missed Lawrence today, not so much for his play but to get the midfield organised and set up properly. Thought we lacked leadership thought the team

Definitely right about Lawrence. Every game he is away shows how pivotal he is to the side. Lawrence and weso out at the same time is the problem, either back in and fully fit would make a huge difference. Southern clearly not fit and you don't get the best out of Clark or vernon from wide positions. Woodsy was having to carry the whole midfield first half and then the centre until Aaron came on to provide some balance and energy. We at least carried a threat second half when JLAA and grant came on although but the second goal coming so early knocked the stuffing out of us. Results elsewhere means it is no disaster and could be the best time to get our little wobble out of the way. Get players in their best positions and we will be fine, the big call is Barnett as his inclusion has coincided with a more direct approach and less control of matches. But that could be due to the key injuries as well.

On the bright side, the failure of Burton and Wycombe to take advantage of our loss of direction has meant that the recent defeats haven't been as damaging as they could be.
The darker side is the rest of the pack is closing in on us like the hungry peleton in the Tour De France. And that danger is that what we thought was a safe breakaway between us and Burton, will see us swamped by the teams coming up... and who are, quite frankly, playing better than us.
That is why the Tuesday night game at Accrington is so important. And no, we can't take it for granted: Stanley are in their best run of form all season... while we aren't.
But for a side with not only aspirations of promotion, but for the Championship too, we must show that we have the qualities to overcome this challenge, because this is now a very big occasion.
Win it, and we sit back on top of the table, with the confidence that gives us. Lose it and we will likely be in the automatic promotion places only by goal difference, with all the self doubt that will bring.
The loss of key players has certainly set us back: it had too.
And unfortunately MM seems to have lost his Midas touch in his ability to recruit players who instantly fitted and gelled into a good footballing unit: Randall, Mandron, Southern and Barnett have all failed to make a real impact. Hopefully Barnett will, given time... but the nature of the way the promotion race is taking shape, suggests that time is not a luxury we can afford.
Lawrence back soon will be a boon... as will the return of Mangan, which cannot come back soon enough, not just for his own penalty box predatory instincts, but the boost his presence gives to Collins.
But neither can be expected to be ready for the trip to Accrington. So we have to do with what we have. I would prefer to see us revert to 3-5-2 with Gayle, or Randall (if he is still with us) on the right; Woods, Grant and Wildig in the middle, and Collins and JLAA to start, with Barnett coming on for the 2nd half.
Yep.... that'll do. 2-0 or 3-0 to Salop... and back on top of the table.
Voila! Worry to deep joy in three minutes!

We need to learn from the mistakes of yesterday which seem to have been a repeat of the mistakes at Tranmere.
I'd like to see us back to 3-5-2 with Woods and a hopefully-fit-again Lawrence holding it down in the centre of the park and Clark in the role Veron started in yesterday.
If Lawrence is still crocked, I would go with Wildig.
Alternatively we could go with a 4-4-2 similar to what we finished with on Saturday, but on no account should the disastrous 4-3-3 be wheeled out again.
I'm willing to give Barnett the benefit of the doubt, we need to resist the temptation to go long-and-high to him so often and play the football that has served us so well up till now.
Over to you, Micky...
