Not trying to kick anything off here, but, having been on here on and off since the Rivals.net days and occasionally looking at other clubs forums am I alone in thinking that this messageboard is a tad more aggressive/serious than in the past. Almost every other thread on here results in arguments and personal insults, even on light hearted/joke threads. Maybe its because there is very little to grumble about at STFC on or off the pitch unlike previous seasons.
Not saying we should not have debates and different viewpoints are always interesting to hear and have in the past resulted in my own views on STFC being altered after listening to others. But, this board has started to boil down to "I'm right - your wrong. Shut up. Thread Closed" and may account for how quiet it has been on here of late.
Just an observation - not intended at a dig at anyone on here.
Peace

Not sure its any different personally, and the quietness is down to how well town are doing I think. There are still over 2000 views of the board every day, and its not unresitriced so anyone can join without being vetted, which has increased registrations recently. We have lots some of the long terms posters, that's a fact, but most return one day under another guise. I can tell you think in all the years of being a Mod we have had less work to do in the last year then ever, it might a bit " debatey" at times but there are no underlying issues that are causing issues like before. I read a lot of B and A, and cant see anything that's made me think its any different to years gone by except with less big arguments, your observation is welcome though...... Sadly your wrong to i'm going to have to ban you

I still think this is one of the most polite and 'nice' messageboards about so it surprises me when people think it can be aggressive etc.

Taffy it has got a tad unfriendly at times, but B and A has mostly welcomed comments from near and afar. it can get very busy on here when town have a bad day in the office, so let us hope for plenty of praise for our campaign to have got back on the rails by 5 o'clock on saturday and some poor results for rivals elsewhere
I have always thought B and A is at its best following a campaign or other, whilst never forgetting our performances on the field.
I also think B and A is an excellent forum for the club shop to advertise new items for sale. after all customer care makes pay days possible. a very good thread Taffy and if I have said or done anything to upset anyone, er Tough s**t! in the true spirit of comradeship as I would expect nothing less from elsewhere. LOL!

I think the board is always a bit slower when we're doing OK isn't it? Everyone just kickin' back and enjoying the ride...

Considerably quieter and much less aggressive than 12/18 months ago.

Perceptions are strange, to me to board is a lot more polite than it has been. It's certainly a lot quieter as far as political debate is concerned, probably because we have lost faith with politicians of all colours and find most of them indefensible.
I certainly remember having a holocaust denier as a regular poster with assorted fascists in support.
Some of the (I assume) younger posters who would routinely insult anyone with whom they disagreed have either matured or disappeared.
I'm not much of a message board user, but I frequent a cycling board where the level of personal abuse and anger would not be permitted here.

I miss a good thread as much as the next man. Pity we cannot have a " Fox Hunting" thread every week, I enjoyed that bit of banter. Mind you with the election nearly upon us i' m sure this board will soon hot up. Really surprised to read about the cycling board, and such a quiet typically English sport to stir such feelings.
Look on the bright side, if you want to read loathsome anger and full fronted foulness, just pop onto sites such as the Millwall M/b. After reading some of their posts, be grateful we are what we are.
Anyway, t will nearly be time for a TOM BRADSHAW thread, I can feel one coming on as I type............happy days.

If you think it's aggressive on here take a glance at the Salop Facebook page, some right twits on there.

I find this board very polite and if someone disagrees with my opinion, they'll give a reason etc which all makes for a healthy debate.
I've seen on other boards where it just seems like a lot of knuckledraggers looking to cause trouble.
Agree it's quiet but what is there to moan about? Last year we had loads but I just find myself agreeing with a lot of things the club and manager does.

I am afraid I partially agree with Taffy. Points can be made without being rude and dismissive and that is not always the case on here and we do at the end of the day support the same team. I have read a lot of other boards this year and as a town fan glorified in the way that other fans rave about our team and Ryan Woods in particular. They do vary though - whilst I found the Southend board particularly knowledgeable and relatively positive, the Stevenage board seemed to reflect the demeanour of their manager. It is hard to fault Blue and amber too much as a messageboard when you look at social media and the Prime Ministers question time in the commons. Also a big thanks to the moderators who do 99% of the time make this board work.

Twitters a mad old place but for live stuff during games it's excellent for updates and a laugh!

Sometimes debate gets heated... but that is better than no debate, especially if reasonable and convincing arguments can be heard... which is often the case on this board.
If you want to read the opposite side of reasonable debate, youtube any video of Richard Dawkins, Bill Maher or the late Christopher Hitchens... and witness the fundamentalist Christian creationists let loose.
Compared with that vitriolic hate and closed minded fury, discussions between Salop following Tories and Labour supporters appear absolutely charming.
No... let the Blue and Amber board be robust... and flourish.

Why cant the forum follow others where they have specific areas and sub forums for particular subjects then each topic can be started or moved into it with guidance for those who don't understand on where to stick it, rather than having thousands of threads on the same subject often created on the same day in one area: A main forum: With permanent threads for the Supporters parliament, and supporter groups a permanent transfer rumours thread, manager thread and player threads and a match thread with that weeks fixture stickied. and one thread for each fixture. Archive sub forum: with an Ex Player thread where all discussions of ex players go. General Discussion sub forum: With topics such as politics and thread's concerning Devon's Bus stop arrangements. Other Football sub forum: Topics not involving Shrewsbury Town. Other sports: Rugby, Cricket etc. Seen in Sheffield Wednesday's forum. A local interest thread where business's, pub's and clubs can post events or even Job vacancies.
Currently you find unless a thread is on the first page of the forum then a new one on exactly the same subject will be created and makes the place look a mess and moderators do not do anything to merge them together in to one.

PEACE BREAKS OUT! I actually agree with what axlerose says. it is frustrating to have 3 or 4 threads going on about 1 game likewise 3 bradshaw threads. I would like to see duplicate threads merged. certainly have a pre match thread which can become the match thread, and perhaps a Just Back thread for post match comment
I would not agree with separate sub forums, as IMO B and A is big enough for all comers if O/T used and I plead guilty to not using O/T for not using this on my "will Tories Win The Election?"
finally and I said this before, would like to see a club shop thread at the top for new item issues.

Isn't it the friction (within reason) that gives a forum its interest at times? Classic example over on the Jihadi John thread where Trev and Axl are at war over paedophiles, stereotypes and the geography of South East Asia. Brilliant!

Maybe its because there is very little to grumble about at STFC on or off the pitch unlike previous seasons.
Two bad results and back to normal... phew that was close!

Do we need a thread to tell us of the latest Club Shop prices, are we a shopping site.....not the last time I looked. And how many sub forums do we need, if we go down that route we could end up with the biggest opening page Ever.
Anyway, must go, got to organise my TB files before creating a thread about his cabbage eating habits.
