I know you can read into stats what you want, I work with them day in day out myself., however over the amount of games we've played the wheels have seriously got to fall off for things to change. The last 20 games we have produced the following league stats: P20 W14 D4 L2 F31 A10 P46 We have kept 12 clean sheets in this time and despite being 2-0 up at half time in one of the games conceded 3 goals for the only time this season in a 45 minutes of madness and to be honest I thought the other game we deserved a point too! If we carry on with this form throughout the last 15 games we will amass a huge 95 points and be crowned champions, regardless of what others do! A sub-note I didn't renew my season ticket until the week before the season started, I wasn't over enthused about this Micky Mellon they'd employed as our new manager, "Who" was my reaction. How glad I am that I did, and I along with others now know what Mr Mellon is about. Professional, innovative, motivational, enthusiastic, all describe this guy and I'm chuffed to bits for him, his team and the club as a whole!

Getting to league 1 will be half of the job . We will find out how good a manager he is if we get promoted, and how he does when we start losing .

When we are promoted, top 16 in league 1 will be a good launch point, eh shrewder?

That's why it's so important to get promoted this season so that the spine of the squad is still under contract .

Town are quoted at 1/16 with Oddschecker for promotion and evens to win the league....5 wins to a play-off place, 7 wins for promotion and 9 wins should see use crowned Champions ( based on the other teams in the mix dropping points as they play each other)
Wycombe away could be the clincher if results continue to go our way

With 15 still to play 9 wins really shouldn't be beyond us given the run in, but then Town often do things the hard way.

The pleasing thing is every other club would swap their position with ours right now, even Burton as we have an easier run in than they do. It is in our hands and I think we will take it and not just go up but win the title too. Good time to be a Shrewsbury fan.

Interesting look is positions of the teams we have left to play vs Burton and Wycombe – I split the league into 4 groups of 6 teams.
Shrewsbury
15 games left 1 vs Top 6 5 vs 6 to12 5 vs 13 to 18 4 vs 19 to 24
Interestingly 10 of our last 15 games are vs teams we already beat, and only 2 vs team we lost to (Plymouth and Exeter and they are at home)
Burton 15 games left 4 vs Top 6 4 vs 6 to12 4 vs 13 to 18 3 vs 19 to 24
10 of their games are vs clubs positioned 14th to 3rd in the table. Easter is the crunch time for Burton with Plymouth (a), Wycombe (h), Luton (a) in 9 days.
Wycombe 15 games left 4 vs Top 6 4 vs 6 to12 4 vs 13 to 18 3 vs 19 to 24
Interestingly of the 4 games vs top 6 only the one vs us is at home for Wycombe. They still have to go to Southend, Burton and Luton.
All three of us have 8 away games left, 7 at home.
You could throw southend in the mix. Like Burton and Wycombe they have 4 gams vs the top 6, but they are mainly at home, so there Chances rely on winning most of them. They have to play Burton, Wycombe, Newport and Luton, so could actually be the king makers come then end.

Still think that Burton will be our biggest threat (apart fro ourselves imploding of course). They seem to be able to grind out wins a bit like we are doing at present. But as Burton will have to play some of the teams around us it will make or break them (& the others) as they will take points off each other.
With our run in I'd say that this far out I'd be slightly disappointed if we only go up in 2nd or 3rd place tbh

With our run in I'd say that this far out I'd be slightly disappointed if we only go up in 2nd or 3rd place tbh Burton, Southend, Wycombe & Luton will all take points off each other - ideally a few draws between them would enhance our championship winning chances. If we can keep our current form going and then go to Wycombe in late March and get a result (draw or win), then I genuinely think we'll be crowed champions come May. Other teams of note, Daggers have hit a wee bit of a purple patch and then you'll see the usual team from the bottomo half of the league hit a run of form and get into the play-offs - whch will all affect the outcome of this league. Saying that, I'm really enjoying this season - quality football, and a team that we can actually call 'our own'....incidentally, just after we scored our 2nd goal vs Wimbledon on Saturday, I counted a full 32 passes by Town before Wimbledon touched the ball (and that was a deflection off a defender, which took the ball away fromCollins in their penalty area) Clean sheets, quality possession and finishing our chances in front of goal will see playing L1 football again come August!

They have a nasty April though. Wycombe have lost some self belief, I don't think they'll implode but a few more shaky weeks and we can pull clear. Luton are my bet for third, Southend won't be too bar off either. They key thing now is to pull away with or without Burton. Now to turn the screw in the next five games...

Our first 6 away games produced 2 points. That's been the only real weak point in the season so far.
The last 9 away games have produced 17. So we're now averaging almost 2 points per game away from home and over 2.6 at home.
Put another way, our first 11 games we got 15 points. So we've taken 46 from the last 20 games.
Two points per game over the season almost certainly wins the title. Still a huge amount to do and injuries or loss of form could yet derail us but we've got up a good head of steam now.

8 wins 3 draws 4 losses , doesn't seem too unrealistic and would see us through to 88 points (amount we got in 2012,finishing 2nd)
To be honest, that amount would probably win the league this time.
We are in a good position and I have complete faith in Mellon that this team will not become complacent.
