Perhaps it is no coincidence that half of the players mentioned above spend a lot of time on the injured list. ?

Great performance from Ireland today, but I have to ask what the hell has happened to West Indies cricket!? Those guys were the absolute epitome of sporting excellence when I was a kid, the ultimate team, and exuded cool and awesomeness. Now they are an absolute shambles. How did they come to fall so far?

Incredible game. That was a real thrashing to be fair. Ireland should have won that a bit easier but probably suffered from nerves. It's disgusting that they won't be at the next world cup.
Stat of the day. In all matches at this world cup 300 has been scored batting 1st every time. However in World Cup history, 300 has only been chased successfully 5 times. Ireland have chased it successfully on 3 occasions.

Excellent performance from Ireland, chasing down over 300 is never easy as pointed out by vanner but they did it with plenty to spare. They've got a good set up with plenty of experience in their ranks, Joyce, Porterfield, Stirling...all have excellent first class records. As for the West Indies, the infighting is tearing this once great cricketing nation apart. Sad to see. Meanwhile, England are to rethink their bowling tactics, especially when bowling at the death. You would have thought that they would have sorted this by now! www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/31477517

Fantastic atmosphere in Canberra for BNG v AFG. The Afghans are doing really well, and they (along with Ireland) are showing what an unfair and stupid decision the ICC have made in reducing the number of teams to 10 for the next tournament

Just realised how once again they've chosen an absolutely terrible format. I think this tournament stretches 42 days! Can't see why it just isn't a straight 16 team tournament with groups of 4, 3 group games then quarter finals. Happy days...

This would also allow 2 more associate nations to join in and therefore promote the game more widely

Double erm... If it's a marathon, we seem to be the guy starting at the very back of the pack, wearing a 50kg michelin man suit with our shoelaces tied together.

Completely outplayed. Southee, in particular, showing our clowns how to bowl.

I expected the kiwis to win but not in the manner in which they did, a complete and utter tonking of the highest order. Even the bloody jocks put up more of a fight. We are going backwards under Moores.

Totally outclassed.
An abject performance, we don't deserve to be on the same field.
What more can you say?

This ground has a reletively short outfield to boundary and I watched McCullum slam 301 there last season and he can be devastating as shown in his cameo today...but thats not the point...Southee is an average bowler at best in international terms so what were our so called world beaters doing Broad and Finn bowled with no common sense
Our batsmen were just flat footed and not focused at all...humiliating and immensely disappointing
Players must hold their hands up but I also have to look at the coaching team and harsh words need to be followed by harsh actions if this continues!

If they're reducing it to 10 teams next time, maybe England can be left out and we could support Ireland instead. Much more enjoyable.

The whole "test status" "full members" and "associates" thing is anachronistic nonsense, but if we have to have that then we should also have "ODI status", and England's should be withdrawn!

I wonder if we are not better off follownig the West Indies into Ladies Rounders. they seem to have taken quite a shine to it. I think they call it Basic Ball!

Of the current ODI squad Only Morgan, Ballance & Jordan are non English born. Although I do like listening to Geoff Boycott, I do wonder how qualified he is to talk about the modern one day game. The short form of the game has moved on massively since GB's days!

I suppose you took the same view when english club shrewsbury played that young welsh forward for a few seasons? Bradshaw I think his name was? Of the current squad, only morgan is questionable is not being english, as he's obviously Irish and with us in the faint hope of a test recall.

I agree with Boycs on the team - I'd have Hales instead of Ballance (to open with Ali), move Bell to three and probably drop Morgan down the order to finish.

That UAEvIRE game was the best ODI I've seen for ages, absolutely gripping. Was supporting Ireland at first but the spirit of UAE won me over and by the end I was gutted for them.
