Personally I think that it is well overpriced for the location and the finish but there is one born every minute.

The luxury penthouse overlooking the river, fields, that's 3 mins walk from the station is hitting a certain clientele. A two bed in Abbey foregate walkable to town would be about 140k! You must be an estate agent - if that is a luxuriously appointed penthouse I'm staggered by what passes as luxury at home (the other one at least looks like the fittings aren't bargain basement) and as for location - a 5 minute walk from the station it might be, but the wrong way and the views are awful. For that kind of money you should be getting a lot more - how can it be a decent price when you consider that 2 of those would buy you a fantastic 5 bed house overlooking the Quarry freehold and with no sevice charge ! I'm not saying it's good value. That's what it's being marketed as though. The proof is in the eating, and no-one has bought them. Nor will they. But people can't say 'Shrewsbury is overpriced' on the basis of a two bedroom yuppie flat aimed at a specific clientele. As half a mile away, and still close to town, you can buy a decent two bed flat on a nice development for 140k.

There is really good value to be had in and around Shrewsbury, just look at Rightmove. I do foresee a problem if there is a flood of returning retirees from the babyboom era though - and I am sure that it is going to happen (based on my unscientific poll of my siblings and friends who originated from the town). The 1960s baby boom peaked in 1964 so they are now around 50 and likely to retire over the next 15 years looking to cash in on their vastly inflated houses down South. I'm at the tail of the boom (1969) so I hope I can still afford it when my time comes.

This is the kind of thing I mean by value. www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-50258735.htmlIt'll probably sell 160-165,000. It gets you into good schools (Priory, Meole, Stretton), is near lots of countryside, and is a short drive from the town centre and very near the park and ride, as well as being close to the bypass. That is incredibly inexpensive, in my opinion.
