In regards to greatest 4th round cup shocks - where do people rate our 1-0 win over 1st Division (before prem league) Wimbledon? Gary Shaw goalscorer. P.S. - opening 20 seconds - goal keepers could handle back passes in them days!
what a pitch!

Our 1982 5th Round 2-1 win over Bobby Robson's star-filled Ipswich side, then UEFA Cup holders and League Division 1 runners-up in both 80-81 and 81-82 was a big upset and surely our greatest ever win? Of course its "upset" status was lessened by us being a Div 2 (now the Championship) team at the time, but we were still small-fry punching above our weight against the odds at that level.

Great footage from the Wimbledon game there.
Someone on B&A was saying recently that the pitch at the Greenhous Meadow is the same now as it was at the Gay Meadow. A case of rose tinted spectacles I think!

Can't see Shrewsbury 2 Man City 0, FA 3rd round January 1979. I'm really really surprised that it doesn't even make the top 100.

Guess its a mistake that its been missed That was some star studded team that they put out against us as well. No playing the reserves like some top clubs do nowadays. bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/history/Matches/Match.aspx?id=3311Always remember Colin Bell coming on and giving us more problems that the rest of the City team combined! He really looked class even though he was in the twilight of his career and carrying a long term injury. What a great day!!!

1979 3rd round was Cambridge following Mansfield and Doncaster away.City was fourth round. Goof cup run that. We got to the quarter finals and it took a replay for Wolves to beat us. The Man City should definitely be in the list. A great season, cos we also won the league three championship to start out decade in the second tier. On the Ipswich game, if I recall correctly Ipswich were actually top of the first division when we beat them.

Guess its a mistake that its been missed I'm pretty sure Malcolm Allison complained like f..k after the match about the state of the pitch , more like a skating rink than a football pitch etc, etc . Great atmosphere , great day for the Town faithful .

Great atmosphere , great day for the Town faithful . Interestingly I attended the FA cup match in November 1978 when Worcester City beat Plymouth 2-0 and Malcolm Allison was the Plymouth manager at the time. If I recall he complained about the pitch that day as well. To be fair to him probably these days the games would have been postponed. Still its the same for both sides.
