Surely Westley has to be the biggest pantomime villiain now as to be fair to Steve Evans, he has never slagged us off in public?

Evans was very condescending when we beat his Crawley team to home in on promotion, saying words to the effect of "If Shrewsbury are the benchmark, then we have got nothing to worry about". They still finished behind us though.

The best place to be if you don't want to watch the match would be a cup tie against those two - the sidelines would be very entertaining. They are both obnoxious but for me Steve Evans probably just edges it for the tax evasion and being just a vile person.

Steve Evans has 2 reactions whenever we play against his side.
Shrewsbury Win - Undeserved. If that's the standard blah blah
Shrewsbury Lose - Full of credit and praise
I much rather Evans to Westley however.

I think Evnas is a better coach than Westley, but still objectionable.

Westley is the David Brent of League 2, can't hate the guy just makes you cringe.

Both dickheads without an ounce of sportsmanship between them, but the game would be less entertaining without its characters and pantomime villains, so I'm glad they're both around. It's fun to beat them.
For me, Westley is the greater of the two evils. Evans (I suspect) cheated in a way that is (or at least was) likely very common in non league and just happened to get caught. The real travesty was the FA's absurd decision to impose the punishment the following season, after they'd been promoted. That really compounded the injustice, when a sensible punishment of a few deducted points would largely have ended the issue.
What Wesltey did to Farnborough, on the other hand, was downright despicable, and is indicative of a man who's happy to trample on even his own colleagues and supposed friends without a second thought if it means getting his own way. I wouldn't trust him to watch my pint for 30 seconds whilst I nipped off for a whizz

They still finished behind us though. To be fair I think he said that after we beat his Rotherham side, when he first moved there and was referring to the following season but yes, Mr. Evans is very complimentary until you beat him. I'd pity the 4th official when their teams play each other.

I wouldn't p**s on either of them if they were on fire. Unless I had developed an X-men mutant ability to pee petrol.

One of them was talking to the guy who has been 4th official when they have meet. He said it was the most unpleasant 90/minutes of his life. Also interesting talking to them about the 30 minute rule after games where Managers aren't allowed to talk to officials. There are certain managers where they race to all change and leave the ground within 30 minutes so they don't have to be subjected to the Managers opinions of their performance.

Westley is a grade A plonker and an anti football character.
But Steve Evans is a convicted criminal.
For me there's quite a difference.

Evans strikes me as a Jeckyl & Hyde character. I've seen him interviewed away from the matchday situation and he seems a reasonable and knowledgable bloke. There is no denying that he got Rotherham playing some decent stuff last season either. I still struggle to like the bloke but I don't dislike him as much as Westley. Viewing from a distance admittedly but Westley appears to lack any sort of class whatsoever and if I were offered a free ticket to see any of his teams play I would definitely turn it down (unless they were playing Town!) There is gamesmanship and there is the cr@p that Westley orchestrates, I struggle to see past all that.

It is always a matter of opinion of course. But if you google Boston United steve Evans and then Bradford City steve Evans, you will see why, to me, he is more obnoxious.
Having said that, I wouldn't want either of them as our manager - ever. There's only one MM.

I think Evans' comments and mind games are all very much of a front and in some interviews I've seen, he's come across as quite a likeable person.
Westley, on the other hand, I would assume that he is a w****r 24/7.

What a difference in the post match interviews of Westley and Mellon. I know it helps when you have won, but Mickey comes over with diplomacy, thoughtfulness and praise for the part Stevenage played in the match; Westley's is sour grapes and even the most begrudging praise for Town is wrapped in caveats.
It's interesting the two message boards too. Yes there has been robust banter here, but there has also been much praise for Boro'; there certainly isn't much there for us on their board.. with hopes that we become bankrupt and our players are cheats and we have the most ignorant and moronic fans in the country.
They seem blind to the fact that they were kicking lumps of us for the first 20 minutes... and as for being ignorant and morons... they should try comparing the literacy, lucidity and humour on the two fans forums.... I think we get the English degrees, while they fail their GCSEs. There are of course exceptions, and to those in Hertfordshire who do put down excellent thoughts and arguments in writing, I apologise.
I am particularly amused by their description of Town fans as "joyless whiners!" And then for days most of them they have done nothing but joylessly whine about this match. I have never seen a defeat taken so badly... not even Wycombes's ghost goal, which cost us so dear, generated such whining on this board.
Get over it guys. Pick yourselves up, win against Oxford and all will seem good in the world again.
Although to be honest, we just may be cheering on Oxford after all the dung flung at us since Saturday.
A word of warning though, Boro ...beware the Oxford defenders: they are ruthless, brutal, wife-beating, cat-microwaving, alcoholic, cheating, cynical, neolithic, officials-bribing barstewards... every last one of them. I hope you are protected by a very strong referee capable of standing up to their thuggery and their attempts to corrupt him with tickets for the Boat Race and promises of nights of unbridled lust in the Halls of St Hilda's College.
If not, and Oxford foul and cheat their way to victory... we really, really look forward to reading your message board afterwards.

Good post. I was particularly amused by one poster on Boro cr@p who, when moaning about our cheating divers, singled out our left back for screaming as he went down, just as he had last season. I can only assume that he is referring to Joseph Michael Jacobson-Demitriou who splits his time equally between us and Wycombe Wanderers.
