Looks awful, and would say its now no better than the old meadow pitch.

At least games are rarely postponed compared with the Gay Meadow.

It may not be in good condition but compared to the likes of Gigg Lane it's like a billiards table.

Looks awful, and would say its now no better than the old meadow pitch. for whatever reason, it's probably worse than any other previous season at the new GM now, but it's certainly flatter than Gay Meadow and drains a lot easier. I am sure MM will be keen to get it improved in the Summer. Thankfully, as yet it hasn't really affected our results at home.

Think the decision to re-seed the pitch with grass seed from home base using Rolys nectar points may have backfired.......

I need to look closer as it looks ok from my seat at the back of block 14... what exactly is wrong with it?

Looks awful, and would say its now no better than the old meadow pitch. Our hallowed turf has nothing on the playing surface at The Ricoh Arena...since Wasps started playing rugby there, it's cut up massively. During the Wasps vs Leinster game on Saturday, they had to stop play while a groundsman came on the pitch to flatten the area around the centre circle. O think it's because the type of grass used for football pitches & rugby pitches are of a different quality. I seem to remember Adams Park (Wycombe & Wasps), Edgeley Park (Stockport & Sale) and Vicarage Road (Watford and Saracens) used to always suffer around the late winter/early spring time. ....the playing surface at The GM can't be that bad - Westley didn't use it as a pre-match excuse prior to Saturday!

Have no knowledge of the arts of the groundsman, but looking at the grass at the side of the pitch there seem to be small patches of bare ground between what seems to be quite healthy grass - I guess it's that which makes it quite bobbly in places?

Before we chew the groundsman's yed off, if you've been away with Town, or even watched lower league matches on tele, it seems to be a pretty common problem. There won't be any growth now until spring, so what we could do with, is a nice warm March, then let the groundstaff have a look at the way forward. Another Elton John concert might help.
Don't forget, we now source our water from under the ground. Has this created a drainage problem? Dunno, it's pure speculation on my part, but we don't see the sprinklers before the games now.

It's because the grass has got a disease and it's proving impossible to get rid of. Expect to see a new pitch surface in the close season.

Chinese whispers the grass was over fertilized and too early hence the problems. Would like Groundo to put it to bed and you do wonder why having always been communicative he has been quiet. Thats the trouble with importing everything from China.........half of it is crap......

We should only be playing the first team games on there to preserve it . Put all other matches on the pitches behind the south stand . Several times on saturday the ball bobbled as a shot , pass , control was about to be made .
It has been a very mild winter this year , so what condition would it have been in if we had had snow and ice ?
