I can't help but feel he has been poorly treated. Clearly better than that level and could still do a very good job for us.

Not surprised he's gone out on loan. Very surprised it's a conference club. Whether locality suited him perhaps...

I find this quite unbelievable. Wildig was probably the stand out player in the league one campaign last season but cannot make the bench in league two.
There is a story to be told here....

He is good but who would you drop to give him a game? Weso and Woods have both had long periods of good form and Lawrence is always going to be ahead of him. He is just a victim of our success (so far) this season. My only disappointment is that we couldn't sort out a proper loan till the end of the season. Once (if) Woods moves on in the summer his stock may rise but he needs to be playing regularly somewhere from here on in.

I thought given weso's injury he may get his chance but clearly MM doesn't feel he is good enough and has brought Keith Southern in. As Taffy quite rightly pointed out, our best midfield player in League One last year, doesn't even get a sniff this year. weird.

Nothing like a complete overreaction! In the context of bringing in a 33 year old who has played 10 games in 18 months I don't think it is!

Wow some fansom here... Thinking wildig is great after being okay last season in a terrible and utter shambles of a team. But can't name the one person you would drop for him. Good luck to him.

He is a highly qualified football coach. I will take his judgement on this one. Good luck to Aaron though and hopefully he can kick on by getting games under his belt.

What thread are you reading? No one is suggesting someone was dropped to fit wildig in, but in light of Weso's injury he could be a good alternative for a place in the starting XI or at least make the bench.

I would drop Laurence for him, he is young and will improve and has shown in the past he is decent at this level and the one above definitely better than the conference.

Yes, maybe he is not a like for like replacement for Weso and that is why MM has brought Southern in but I certainly feel there have been times this season when Wildig would have given us more than Lawrence has delivered but even if that's not to be, he would give us another dynamic off the bench.

Absolute correct decision IMO. Rumours differ wildly about what teams, if any, have previously offered to take him on loan and it remains a mystery as to why he/the club haven't sorted this out earlier. I posted a few weeks ago that he may have to drop down a league to guarantee himself regular football and however you rate him, regular football is the only thing that's going to get his career going again. Hard done by ? I don't know... him and his agent may have made a few poor decisions along the way and perhaps also he's had a bit of bad luck. Good luck to the guy, wherever this move takes him. I can't really foresee a scenario where he plays for us again but stranger things have happened.

I rate Wildig but he is not better than Lawrence,Weso or Woods.
Keith Southern's a bit of a strange one, I have Woods down as a DM so to play Southern alongside him is far too defensive for my liking (at least Weso can be a box to box player)
Wildig is a player with potential and definitely of League 2 quality. If Lawrence get's injured, then our midfield looks very uncreative so hopefully Wildig can be recalled straight away.

Just remind me how many games Mangan had played in the 18 months before joining us. I haven't checked but it wouldn't have been a lot and the ones he had would have been in non league. We don't know how bad Weso's injury is but this is a guy with vast experience of protecting the back four. I also rate Aaron Wildig highly, but more so as an attacking midfielder. Hopefully him getting games at Kiddy well help him to get match fit and come back to play a part in our promotion push.

Bloody hell. I'm a huge Wildig fan, always have been. He's a very good ball playing midfielder and imho he would be terrific in this current team. However... Woods, Weso and Lawrence are all superior players, he needs fitness and perhaps this loan might do him and us a massive favour?

I fear MM is using a bit of kidology re the fitness, will the same not apply to Southern as well? ? Clearly Wildig needs to do well on loan at Kiddy but it seems like his Shrewsbury career is at an end, and this is all about him putting himself in the shop window!

Wildig is a good player but he's not become a terrific one during his absence. He just doesn't fit into Mellon's plans and it looks as though fitness is a major concern. If he's as good as he can be he'll have an outstanding month in the conference and Micky will have to give him a chance. If not, maybe we'll see why he's not even making the bench. Beneficial for everyone, this.

I'd imagine he means he came back overweight or totally unfit for pre season. Southern may be in great shape but just lacking minutes on the pitch. Which we will give him with Weso being out.

It may have been one of the Q&A interviews but apart from the "he's doing well in training" line MM did subtlety criticise Wildig for not coming back from the Summer as fit as other players and said he was playing catch up.

Very odd decision to loan out Wildig and bring in an older player on loan - why not use what we already have instead of coughing up for an older/temporary replacement for Wes.

He is a good ball player I agree, but I think this league is simply too rough and tumble for him. The midfielders we have now are all tough hard tackling and combative, and are suited to this level of football. I simply don't think Wildig is. Maybe next season when (God permitting) we are a division higher and the game is a touch more football rather than physically orientated, it will suit him more!

I like the lad but he's had more experienced players in front of him and woods has looked good this season. Maybe there is more to this than on the surface we don't see behind the scenes but maybe his attitude hasn't been great or he hasn't trained hard enough.

Makes sense to me, Southern can sit on the bench (and hopefully be a good option) and add experience to the dressing room whereas Wildig will get a run of games he won't here.
