My Mum is thinking of selling her house, any recommendations for good estate agents - or warnings about bad ones?

In my experience they're all pretty bad!
We sold ours through Cooper Green (Pooks) but not without considerable wranglings/chasing. ZJ&B were terrible, had the house on with them for 6 months before changing..Miller Evans were really negative and gave a 10k less than we ended up selling it valuation- got the impression they weren't bothered as it was a small terrace.
Good luck!

All depends what sort of place it is . Anything 140k or less I'd go db roberts . Anything over 250 then miller evans . In between take your pick of the others!

Halls, Balfours or Miller Evans if it is 250k plus - Pooks are pretty poor at viewings I'd avoid them

My experience with estate agents has been that if you are a very proactive seller that even the worst of agents can produce a positive result.

I did very well with Spencer Jakeman last year. I think sometimes the younger and smaller businesses need your sale a bit more.
I had a good result with solicitors too - Hannah Walker at Graham Withers. In my experience solicitors can be a real problem too.

Cooper green were crap for me and DB Roberts got me a sale quickly. As mentioned above db specialise in cheaper stock.

Also remember to haggle between estate agents. I think I got down to 0.7% by the end

Miller Evans were fab. Despite the house falling through three times they still got us ABOVE asking price.

My family and I have only ever used this company and have had no complaints in the multiple purchases / sales that we have completed. I can't comment and say that this wouldn't have happened if we had used say ZJB, Pooks or Miller Evans as all estate agents at the end of the day, want the same result! If it doesn't sell, they don't get paid! Simple! So it is in their best interests to complete a sale!

I don't want to jinx a possible sale, but thanks for the Samuel Wood recommendations, they have been excellent.
I'll report back when the contracts are signed.
