So Ryanair have just announced that from April next year they will be flying from Stuttgart to Manchester. We'll be looking to use they a fair bit from here on in considering the prices. Just one thing however, are the horror stories true or are they alright for the most part? I mean it's only an hour and a half anyhows but do we need to brace ourselves for whole new flying experience? Thought I'd flag it up too as it's a decent price and if you've never been over this way then I'd recommend you do so. I wouldn't say there is a shed load to do here but there is enough to keep you busy for a weekend trip. More so when the beer fest is on...

Always fancied going to the Porsche Museum? Its decent enough. The Mercedes museum is also a decent place to visit. I'd say the Porsche museum you can do in a couple of hours whereas you'll need pretty much the whole day to see everything in the Mercedes museum.

Thanks for that, are they far apart or can you walk from one to another?

Used Ryan Air (and easyjet) many times and never had a problem.... turn up on time, have the correct luggage allowance and your away... very efficient and friendly, all the horror stories are people who expect to get BA service for a fraction of the cost or get it wrong themselves then blame the airline!! oh the bugle when you land is a bit annoying but at least your safe and on time

I think that's how I was seeing it too. We've booked and made sure we have plenty of luggage allowance and I've even reserved seats (as we've little'uns and I want to be sure we can sit together as I understand its first come first served with seating). Even with the extra cost for that its way cheaper than anything else we can get from what I can see. So more than happy to spend a little more to close any potential issues that might arise. Not heard that they have a bugle. Sure the kids will like it...

But with the S-Bahn you can get from one to the other in about half an hour I think. Very easy to get around the city with the bus and bahn. The stadium is right next door to the Mercedes museum, mind. The big stadium I mean, where VfB play.

Yeh I hope you hear it as they only play it if they land safely, on time.... You'll no doubt get horror stories from others but you get what you pay for and in my view a much better crowd than on BA.........
Do Air Berlin still allow smoking at the back? I was amazed a few years ago, way after smoking was banned to be on a flight witha party going on at the back that turned out to be 'the smokers' having a great time.....

I've flown Ryan Air many times now and although I describe the plane as a bus with wings. I say this in respect to the adverts in cabin and the fanfair when you arrive annoys me. However those are only irritations not complaints and I have to say I've no problem with them. You get what you pay for and for a short flight I just make sure I've had a good feed before I board (so no need to purchase over priced snacks on board), and I get there with plenty of time and respect the luggage allowance. Always found them friendly too.
Makes me chuckle now but I remember about 4 years ago our flight from Cork to East Mids was 90 mins late arriving in Cork. On board the captain apologised stating they were late leaving Valencia and his reason/excuse? 'Its summer, you know how it is' ha
I did Berlin a few years ago and ever since always fancied seeing the south part of Germany for a weekend. I just assumed Munich would be the obvious choice but worth doing Stuttgart for a weekend you say? Ultimately if there enough for the mrs to do? ha

RyanAir is good if you treat it for what it is. A way of getting somewhere cheap. Don't expect anything more and don't compare it to others then it's fine.

'a bus with wings' is a good description, no problems for a short flight with hand luggage.
Certainly better than some of the clapped out trains you'll get from Manchester.

Very good news that.
Fancy Germany some point next year, got Milan early Jan and Barcelona late Jan to come 1st, taken in Inter vs Genoa then hopefully getting Barca tickets otherwise I'll do the tour.
Both cost me £50 returns.
Good old EasyJet, even had a four hour delay back from Alicante the other week and they paid me compensation of around £200 GBP due to EU laws on it!

Used Ryanair loads of times. No issues providing you stick to bag size and weight limits. They build in loads of time to flights so they run to time.
You need to remember to take your passport to games in Italy. Your name has to be printed on ticket and you have to show passport at gate to gain entry. You can buy tickets online or from two hours before the game at the ground. Do NOT buy from a tout.
I usually go for second tier on the side at the San Siro.
Going up on roof of the Cathedral is well worth doing. Don't expect much else of Milan

Basically did a search for LGW to anywhere in Europe and Milan came up at fifty quid, never been to Italy so something different... Any other recommendations other than the cathedral? 'Ta.

Experienced no problems with Ryanair and normally the only people who do are the sort of deluded hoo ray henries who book for a family of 5 to go to Malaga and then complain when they have to pay over double the fight costs for baggage allowance.
Those who are savvy enough and travel regularly won't be familiar with too many of the horror stories branded about by the Daily Mail.
A 'bus with wings' is a fair assessment but as it's only Germany and the matter of maybe an hour's flight time then I don't see why anyone would need or want to expect any more.

Get the metro to Lotto and then walk up to the stadium is my favourite way to get to the ground. Always impressed as I turn the corner. Jealous or what. I love going to the San Siro

Yeah I fly back at 21:50 so prob better for me to be fair, get the game out the way and more time to do stuff.
Much chance of hassle between fans?
Didn't fancy having the away fans above me so other side!

Not true. Our horror story followed a flight cancellation for a brief bout of fog at Pisa, having to queue for 5 hours with no refreshments or support of any kind from RyanAir, then being rescheduled on a flight out 5 days later. The fog led to cancellations for EasyJet and another airline (forget which) but they rearranged flights for their passengers later the same day. RyanAir didn't give a toss about theirs. And that's why I hate them. I would only ever use them again if there was no viable alternative. It'll take a lot for them to move off the bottom of my airlines list.

We did Ryan air to Dublin & Barcelona and it was fine.
Baggage rules are quirky, but you've got to play the game. The lad On went with in summer had a huge winter coat on with every pocket stashed with clothes!
The one thing that irks me is that there are so many extras it becomes almost impossible to do an easy price comparison because you could add loads more cost with your options.
