Does anybody think we will take 1000+ to burton? Correct me if I'm wrong but don't think we've taken 1000 anywhere in the LEAGUE for at least a season . Includes vale walsall and Crewe last season! Been a while since we've turned up with a good away following . Seems centuries ago since we were being locked out at Chester and taking 2000+ to Wrexham , and even filling up leIgh rmi's stadium for them for a night game !

If we 1,200 to Walsall in the cup then Im confident we will take 1,000 + to Burton. Remember last season our away followings were pathetic due to the apathy towards the club whilst this season we have hardly had any local ish games.
Incidentally, in all my time following STFC we have rarely taken over 2,000 away, even to local derbies. For some reason 1,800 always used to be the maximum figure.

We played Burton on NYD 2011 with over 1100 Salopians witnessing a pretty dour 0-0 in the freezing cold. With this being only about 50 miles away and also on a Saturday I would be disappointed if we didn't take pushing on 1000....

Erm.............."filling up Leigh RMI's stadium for a night game". Not quite correct - didn't it hold about 20,000. We were in the majority though granted in the 1219 attendance rattling round inside there

According to the OS we have been given 800 tickets for Burton. It doesnt say whether any more will be available but I would expect us to sell the 800.
£18 seats, £15 stand.

I'm pretty confident the away terrace at Burton holds more than that and they usually allocate a block of seats in the main stand to away supporters as well.

Then again, the relief of the Kevin Street equaliser at Leigh was received with cheers that turned to jeers at the final whistle because Telford had gone there the saturday before and won 5-1

We lingered too long in the supporter's bar and by the time we got in it was already packed but the town fans kept coming. Couldn't believe we so many. Think they moved some of the home fans to make more of the ground available to us lot. Got a decent spot behind the goal but there were so many packed in and the terrace was not very steep so the view was awful.

I was at that Northwich game and I don't think I got to see any of the game. It were packed. Had the Mrs with me and she were feeling ropey from the night before bless her so we made the decision to leave at half time. Wasn't that arsed missing the game as I wasn't able to see any of it anyhows. Recall standing next to Dario Gradi who must have had an eye on one of our lads at the time. Awful, awful feeling getting relegated to the Conference. Something I would never wish to go through again. But it certainly gave the Town fan base a kick up the arse that I think was very much needed. I don't think its been the same since we went to the Conference and I mean that in a good way. All things considered it turned out to be a good thing for us...

There was some very strange away days that year .

From memory the home Northwich game we put them in the stand and gave the Station End to home fans whilst at the away game they gave us three sides of the ground and put themselves in the away end.
Im pretty sure their chairman was helping serving in the social club beforehand and was saying what a financial boost that day was for the club

Shame it wasn't our end that. Sure the atmosphere at the old ground would have been better for it.

Think our away daty qfollowing pretty decent these days, just to put it into perspective as an old timer, remember going to man city at Main rd late 80's, we won 3-1 I think And we about 500. ( I remember this as my 8ft Union Jack flag made it's debut in the corner off the kippax and the old wooden seated stAnd at Maine rd. If we were in same league as city now we'd be talking 1000 plus there easy surely? Ok so this was the 80's when we would regularly entertain (and often beat) the likes oh Leeds , Chelsea, Fulham, newcastle et al but 500 even by 1980's standards to Man city is a bit pathetic, so in conclusion ....I think our away support is ok. I hope I gave shed some perspective on this

We won 1-0, very much against the run of play. David Tong (I think) scored a belter of a goal, it seemed to be in the air for about a minute before hitting the back of the net. The noise from the Shed was evil. The police kept us in for about an hour afterwards, for our own safety I think. Whereas about 4 or 5 years ago when we played Exeter away in the JPT on a Tuesday night there were 84 town fans there. Ok - that is a really low number I know - but I thought it was staggeringly high considering it was the JPT. And a Tuesday night. And Exeter.

Shame that our glory period coincided with probably the lowest period for English footie. Or perhaps that is what allowed us to punch above our weight for so long?

Remember us taking 48 to Huddersfield for 2nd leg of League Cup in 1985/86. I was one of 7 who stood on terrace behind the goal. Won 2-0 to overturn 3-2 deficit from 1st leg.
In old division two we regularly less than 200 to away games

Remember being one of about 37 at Darlo at Feethams in March 1998 out of a total cro of 1791. RichardScott put us 1-0 up only to lose 3-1 on a freezing night (If memorybserves me correctly the game had previously been twice post-poned but I might be imagining). My memory also tells me if was Kerrigan's debut but that might be wrong too!!

Did the double over Chelsea that season (aggregate score 7-2) as we did in 1982-83 when we scored twice in the final five minutes (Steve Cross and Bernie McNally) to record our only other win at the Bridge. Less than 9,000 there that day.
**EDIT** Just checked BOES and Tongy never scored in the 4-2 win (Dungworth (2) Atkins and Keay were the scorers that day) in fact he never scored for us at the Bridge. Don't know what game Uncle Monkey is thinking of but it ain't Chelsea.

Naw - it was definitely Chelsea but clearly my memory is playing me false. It was definitely not a 4-2 match so must have been the 2-0 one (I was always unclear about the scorer of the long range effort admittedly). Will need to upgrade my memory obviously! cheers

My memory also tells me if was Kerrigan's debut but that might be wrong too!! That could have been a couple of games: There was an LDV Vans trophy game in 2001 (I think) that Shrews lost 2-0. The attendance can't have been more than 1,000 and I remember standing in the away terrace (it was unusually on the side of the pitch). When the players were warming up, Mickey Brown ran over, saw a group of us (we'd left sixth form early that day, to make the trip instead of a typical afternoon game of pool at Mr Nudge) on the terrace and shouted "what on earth are you nutters doing here?" Then there was the infamous 2-2 draw in the league, another Tuesday night - would have been a couple of years earlier than the LDV game. We were 2-0 up and conceded twice in injury time. Can't have been more than 50 Salop fans there that night - this time housed in the wooden seating area above the terrace. We were doing well until John Gayle scored to put us 2-0 up, ironically it was the worse thing that could have happened as Darlo pulled one back instantly from kick-off and then had the upper hand after we'd looked so comfortable at 1-0.
