I can't see there being a demand for his job. Limited resources and a s**t team.

The problem for Yates, is he's done too well. Then when they return to their natural position, people get disappointed.
Wonder if they'll live to regret it.

"The Robins will announce Yates' replacement at a press conference on Thursday".
They're not hanging about are they?

very surprising decision.
Yates has performed well in recent years, being very close to promotion on a couple of occasions.
Thought Cheltenham were the kind of club that would support their manager...........wrong again

Think you maybe proven wrong on that score - decent sized club and feel like a "proper" league team now as oppossed to the likes of Macc who always retained an very non-league feel to them. Know a lot of Town fans rated Yates but personally I see him much like a Gary Peters type of manager - IE come in, bring stability, make you hard to beat and then struggle to really push on to the next level.

Wonder if they'll live to regret it. Very experienced Manager at this level and if he was to get a job with a club with some Wonga he could do very well in my opinion.

Near the bottom of League 1 you mean. If Yates had got Cheltenham to that position he may still have a job !

Think he had a fair crack of the whip to be honest they do seem to have stagnated for a couple of years and I don't think you can accuse the chairman of being trigger happy . Not sure Paul buckle is any better mind you

No I mean poor start to the season, poor preparation and no real prospect of an improvement.... doesn't matter what league your talking about GT had to go but RW wasn't prepared to face up to it

Agree with JT, vastly overachieved with that side and has paid the price for his own measure of success.
Many people thought Yates was a shoe-in for this job at once upon a time and I wouldn't say they've been 'proved wrong' by the fact he's been sacked by Cheltenham. People are still talking about Jurgen Klopp as a potential Arsenal manager when Dortmund have had a stinker of a season. One bad year does not make you a bad manager.
For every manager that proves very little and moves from job to job like Mike Appleton for example, there's someone who probably stays put too long.
Rowett got out at the right time, he also successively over-achieved with a small side.

Paul Buckle's first game in charge of Cheltenham Town is at home to Oxford United on Saturday.
