I don't mind the glory hunters coming the fuller the ground the better but it will do nothing for the atmosphere. Who were the ''Glory Hunters'' then? Those who paid like everyone else?

You often hear about a Fan who has attended every game since 1923 at first I think wow that's pretty hardcore. Then I think how on earth could you do that without ever neglecting other parts of your Family life? I couldn't do it without missing a part of my Family's life in a season let alone 80 years. They must have a very understanding Partner and/or a Job that is very flexible. fck me it's 90 minutes a Saturday and the occasional Tuesday you hardly have to niglect your family to attend !

Maybe because these life- time fans have taken the trouble to get off their fat arses and actually go to matches, experience the heart beating moments of defeat and victory, is the reason they have lived so long.and maybe thev'e enjoyed matches in the company of their family, sons, daughters, wives, partners? the family that support together, grow old together. unless you support Telford that is.

Obviously IF they have been able to do that with the blessing of the wife then . I was just using an extreme example. Would he be any less a supporter if he'd missed a few? But those who use the terms by labeling Supporters ''Glory Hunters'' or ''Tourists'' just because they treat Football as a ''Special Occasion'' or go when they can, even if it is infrequent is derogatory and suggest someone believes they are superior as they go to more games.

Well to niglect your family is not putting food on the table or being down the boozer 24/7 IMO !! You generally find most people that attend all games find a way around most stuff.

fck me it's 90 minutes a Saturday and the occasional Tuesday you hardly have to niglect your family to attend ! Your obviously single and Childless then. Tell me how you could go 80 years of Saturdays without missing a Wedding, Kid's Football or other events involving them? Or looking after them while your misses goes out for the day. If I'd gone to the Football on Saturday I'd have missed a Day's pay, made the misses handle the Kid's Football Trial's and missed them myself all for the sake of my own enjoyment and in turn I would have neglected my responsibilities. I'd need to have a Job that means i'll have every Saturday and a lot of Tuesday's off. and how many Part-Time job's pay enough to afford a Family trip to every match?. To attend every match I would need to Book day's off that revolve around my own enjoyment meaning I haven't ''saved'' enough for School Holidays etc. This is the position that many Fans are in an will be for at least until the kid's leave home and a lot of those labelled here as '' Glory Hunters''. I also would be spending Money on Football matches for myself when it could go on other stuff.

Drop the glory hunters label, we all start somewhere... My Dad me to my 1st game back in April 1975 v Stockport county (0-0),I remember he bought me a rossette and scarf from the clubshop that night, and I still have the match day programme. From that day on I became a loyal and lifelong supporter.
the same would have happened to those that went for the 1st time last night, and hopefully those watching from home..
very proud Shrews fan living in Hertfordshire.

I think arrogant prick would be a perfect description for you. I think the loyalty points system worked and it was actual Shrewsbury fans that got tickets instead of glory hunters. That wasn't what you were saying yesterday Pughy, when suggesting that the glory hunters would dilute the atmosphere. I know and the fans that got tickets showed passion and that they cared. Well done to STFC for making sure Shrewsbury fans got tickets instead of people that just wanted to go watch Chelsea and don't care about Shrewsbury.

I think the majority of first-timers/ glory hunters/ big game supporters weren't there to see Chelsea, they were there to see us beat Chelsea or at the very least have a bloody good go at it and I don't think anyone went home disappointed last night. If we can get even 2 or 3% of the first-timers coming a few more games and maybe bringing their mates or their families I would call that a success.
I get to as many games as my life and finances allow, when I was single I made most games, now I make very few. Maybe when I retire (in about 20 years given that the Tories actually allow retirement then) I will no doubt get to more games, but at present family life, mortgage, holidays, etc take up more than I can give to Salop and I'm sure that you'll find that a great many people in my age group feel the same.

Never mind all this glory supporters/part timers and whatever you want to label the people who actually put their lives before football lets focus on the actual atmosphere last night as it is easily the best we've had at GM and I hope those who did come last night were impressed and will come again as everyone did their bit from block 1 to block 19 and all those temporary stands in-between!

On leaving the ground last night their was a blob of a women saying i only come to see Drogba and terry.A town fan must of overheard what she said and let her have it with both barrels.Needless to say she didn't turn around and say a word.

Think in the modern game we need to accept there are more fans attending games for the experience, rather than as a week in week out supporter
Know a number of people locally who support premier sides, but due to cost and difficultly of attending matches pop down to the Meadow occasionally to watch games. Some have started bringing kids too as league 2 football is much cheaper for a family
Similarly while I watch the majority of Town games at home I also go to a few premier and football league games not involving Salop. As long as people pay their cash at the turnstile (or ticket office window) I'm not too bothered about their motivation for being there
